Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an escape from the ordinary, Lavender Bistro will not disappoint. Be sure to reserve a table outside to capture Lavender’s true elegance and style. With lights delicately streaming through the trees and welcoming music in the air, I was immediately whisked away from the desert to a lush garden, surrounded by private canopied gazebos.
The only thing better than the ambiance, was Chef Nicolas Desinai’s menu. While I enjoyed his vibrant and delicious Lavender Seasonal Salad with asparagus, ripe cherry tomatoes and freshly shaved fennel in a light lemon-truffle vinaigrette, my guest opted for the Maryland Blue Crab cakes with a creamy garlic aioli. The appetizers were beautifully plated and presented, leaving us with much anticipation for the next course. Our server, Luis, was pleasant, attentive and clearly a professional, providing the perfect timing between courses. For the main course, fresh pan-seared Dover Sole with a savory lemon-caper beurre blanc accompanied by sautéed spinach and basmati rice. I was fortunate to get a taste of my date’s Veal tenderloin Medallions, sautéed and served with homemade Portobello mushroom ravioli, lightly drizzled with a mushroom sauce and accented with truffle oil. I cannot tell you which entrée was better! Feel free to ask the knowledgeable staff to suggest a wine pairing and if you visit on a Tuesday, all bottled wines, excluding wines listed on the reserve list, are offered at half price!
Noticing the theme of lavender throughout the restaurant, from the table’s floral arrangement to the lavender linens, we had to try the Lavender ice cream with Gran Marnier! A superb pairing if you ask me! A special thanks to Bob Allen for making our night memorable by playing everyone’s requests from smooth jazz favorites like “Satin Doll”, to more upbeat selections like The Rolling Stone’s, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. There is nothing this man won’t perform for you and your guests.
Lavender Bistro is open each night from 5:30 PM but come early for Happy Hour at 5:00 PM in the lounge. Don’t forget to make a reservation because the word is out and this desert gem is packed nightly!
