In our modern technological age, it’s a thing of beauty to behold Shannon Hogan’s warm, wistful Impressionist watercolor paintings & pastels. They draw us back to the romantic era of the previous century, and celebrate the genteel beauty of women and children, flowers and nature.

Shannon received her extensive education at Illinois Wesleyan University, N.Y. School of Visual Arts; Art Center College of Design; Otis Design Institute, as well as earning a BFA from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She was the Co-Founder of The Seventh Street Gallery in L.A., where she exhibited paintings, drawings, etchings, & monotypes. In the 1960s & 70s she participated in numerous group shows at The Los Angeles Art Association.

Shannon lives in Rancho Mirage, Ca but her work has been in Exhibitions all over the United States, including; Palm Springs, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Houston, St. Louis, Washington, DC, Great Falls, MT. She has also exhibited in London, England & Oaxaca, Mexico. In 1985 she received an Award in the Juried Show “Festival of the American West” at Utah State University. She was an entry at the Palm Springs Art Museum’s ACE show in 2010, and was awarded First Place for watercolor painting at the ACE 2011 juried show. In 2012, Shannon received the “Painter of the Year” Award from the Coachella Valley Watercolor Society in Palm Desert, Ca for her inspirationally beautiful piece “Bonampak Rain Forest.”

She has an accomplished list of Collectors, including the Smithsonian Art Collection, Washington, DC; U.S. Air Force Art Collection; Disney Art Collection, The Dinner Party Project 1977-1979, designed by Judy Chicago. Shannon was the Co-chairman of the Graphics Dept. for a major museum celebrating women’s history. Her work toured the U.S. and Europe and is now on permanent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Shannon has also produced commercial art as an Illustrator and Storyboard Artist for 23 years in Los Angeles; her clients include Disney, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Max Factor, & Mattel. She created the Cover art for American Artist’s Watercolor ’86 magazine.

A list of her professional affiliations include; Los Angeles Advertising Women, Co-chairman in Graphics in the 1980s; and 1980s to 2002 with the Society of Illustrators, Los Angeles (SILA), as Board member and newsletter editor.
