Yoga for Everyone, Everywhere

By: Bronwyn Ison

Love. Dedication. Inspiration. Courage. Strength. Compassion.
Yoga Across America inculcates, Yoga Across The Coachella Valley.

More than half a dozen teachers will collaborate in this challenge on Saturday, September 14. They will practice yoga simultaneously in different locations. Evolve Yoga, Go With The Flow Yoga, lululemon, and Urban Yoga Center are joining their yoga forces to assist Yoga Across America. This non-profit organization raises yoga awareness and funds. The donations accepted on this day will be allocated sharing yoga in underprivileged areas that might not have the opportunity to practice or learn about yoga. Without hesitation Evolve Yoga, Owner Bronwyn Ison, desired to become involved as well as invite her colleagues to participate in this beautiful event. 100% of the donations raised on this day will directly go back into the programs that assist food banks, cancer survivors, our American Soldiers, and providing yoga in high schools.

YAA was launched by Gina Garcia, a 500-hour certified Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa Teacher. Gina stumbled upon yoga 14 years ago when her step aerobics class had been switched to a yoga class. Garcia never looked back. She knew she could bring this 5000-year-old practice to those who may not typically have the opportunity to practice.
Prior to Garcia’s yoga career you could find her sharing the news of the day as a journalist for KCRA-TV in Sacramento. Now you can find Garcia in the McKinley Park Rose garden in Sacramento teaching FREE Baptiste Power Vinyasa classes to hundreds of students. She also created “Yoga in the Park.”

What is the YAA Challenge? The YAA Challenge represents the beautiful action of yogis across the country practicing together on the same date in different locations across the US. This is an opportunity for all of us to connect through this wonderful practice, and support sharing the gift of yoga in underserved areas.

Our valley will be hearing much more about Yoga Across America. Evolve Yoga is pleased to participate in other local events to help aid this organization in the future. Evolve Yoga’s own Alison Harris will dedicate her yoga expertise by instructing a 10-week program for Yoga Across America at Coachella Valley High School coming this fall. Studies show that yoga in schools improves behavior, test scores, and allows the student(s) to reach calmness in stressful circumstances.

To become involved you may participate in this monumental event at any of the four locations. We highly recommend reserving your mat space at one of the above locations.
As a yoga studio owner and instructor, we love to share the gift of giving. We look forward to having you join us to share in this gift too.
