The third annual Crater Lake CHEF CHALLENGE just completed the sixth week of competition of its valley-wide Chefs’ cook-off. The eight-week Chefs’ cook-off is being sponsored by Crater Lake Vodka, Pirch and RR Broadcasting, and takes place every Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm at the Pirch store on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage. The public is invited to attend the weekly Chefs’ cook-off and register to win multiple door prizes, including a theme park tickets, golf, restaurant certificates, a grand prize from Miele and more!

To participate, each chef must create an innovative entrée, and either a dessert or an appetizer that features Crater Lake Vodka as the signature ingredient. Our celebrity judges, Chef Andrew Copley and Chef Andre, evaluate the dishes based on creativity, taste, and presentation.

Chef Adam from Roy’s Pacific Rim took the night and will move on to the Finals on October, 29th with his Veal sweetbreads and Crater Lake Gin infused citrus Nampla followed by Sea Bass with a Crater Lake Pepper Vodka fermented black bean sauce and a tomato salad.

Chef Freddy from Fantasy Springs Casino started with a sashimi of black sea bass with seafood hush puppies with strawberries, golden pineapple, Thai basil, micro greens, and Crater Lake Ginger Vodka-white soy vinaigrette. His entrée was a Crater Lake Rye Whiskey pan-roasted American wagyu beef rib-eye braised with duck fat, a potato pedestal, sautéed haricot verts, frizzled leeks, and a rye whiskey-porcini demi-glace.

The turnout was fantastic, as were the creations of both Chefs that kicked in round two of the semi- finals! One more week of semi- final battles will lead to the finals as the top three Chefs battle for title on October 29th.

The eight-week program culminates with a final round of competition where each of the weekly winners will compete to win a special Grand Prize Package, and the title of Crater Lake Master Chef.
