Palm Springs Art Museum invites locals, visitors, and members of the Architecture and Design Council to attend the event íBienvenidos Modernistas! on Saturday, October 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the new Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion.
The new Architecture and Design Center officially opens to the public November 9, and will be the hub of the museum’s exploration of architecture and design, while housing related exhibitions and educational and community programs. The building was originally designed by the acclaimed architect E. Stewart Williams in 1961 and was one of the most important architects of the Desert Modern style, developed in and around Palm Springs in the middle of the 20th century.
Attendees at íBienvenidos Modernistas! have the unique opportunity to experience the museum prior to its opening in November, and prior to the installation of the first exhibition. The event features a Barcelona-style celebration with authentic Spanish tapas, cava, and white sangria. Guests will enjoy live music by Machin’ performing their unique “Spanglish Jive,” a rich Latin-influenced eclectic fusion of ska, reggae, cumbia, gypsy and dance music. A highlight of the evening includes Trina Turk’s informal fashion show with five models showcasing the designer’s stylish fashions.
For those not yet members of the Architecture and Design Council, this is a unique opportunity to attend a party at the newest museum building, while at the same time becoming a member of the largest art council at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Tickets for this event are $75 for Architecture and Design Council members and $100 for non-members – which then includes a membership to the Architecture and Design Council, giving special access to ongoing programming and events during the 2014 – 2015 season.
