Special performance on Saturday, January 11th

Green Room Theatre Company Coachella Valley (GRTCCV), now in its 16th successful season, brings a rapid-fire staged reading to Old Town Artisan Studios in Old Town La Quinta on Saturday, January 11, at 1 p.m. “As Y’All Like It In One Hour/Como Te Gusta En Una Hora” is adapted from Shakespeare by GRTCCV’s Artistic Director David Catanzarite. An additional reading will be held on January 10, at 4 p.m. at Revel Palm Desert for 55+ independent senior living community members, and other 55+ area residents on a space available basis. For more information on the Revel reading, please call (760) 316-3366.

The modernized one-hour comedy performance interweaves contemporary English, Spanish, and Shakespeare’s original language while following Rosalind as she flees her uncle’s court, accompanied by her cousin Celia, to the enchanted Desert of Arden. In Arden Desert, they encounter an assortment of vivid characters, including Touchstone, the jester, and the melancholy Jaques, who speaks one of Shakespeare’s most famous speeches (“All the World’s a Stage”). An evil duke, a treacherous brother, a faithful servant, and Shakespeare’s finest gender-bending love affair bring this timeless comedy to life in our own wintry desert.

Old Artisan Studios is located at 78046 Calle Barcelona in La Quinta. Tickets are available on a sliding scale with free tickets available to those in need. For additional information and tickets for the La Quinta reading visit www.GRTCCV.org. Green Room Theatre Company is able to offer affordable professional theatre in local neighborhoods thanks to community support, including individual donors and business sponsors. Sponsors of GRTCCV include The Coeta and Donald Barker Foundation, Rotary Club of Coachella East, Mechanics Bank, Revel Palm Desert, BBSI, Tellissi Family Dentistry, Thai Smile Rancho Mirage, and Costco Wholesale.
