A Crucial FUNDday for Teens & the Future of Local Music
For ten years, the Academy of Musical Performance (AMP) has been a lifeline for young musicians across the Coachella Valley. It has nurtured talent, built confidence, and created a community where teens can express themselves, collaborate, and grow. Now, as AMP approaches a decade of life-changing impact, the organization is reminding the community of something essential: its work is only possible because of annual fundraising events — not government funding.
This makes AMP’s upcoming event even more important, especially with a new date due to forecasted storms. “AMP Bash Fall 2025” has been rescheduled and will now take place Saturday, December 6, from 2–5 PM at Indio Taphouse.
A New Date, Same Mission: Celebrate Music & Support Youth
The rescheduled AMP Bash isn’t just another event on the calendar — it’s a lifeline for a nonprofit that relies completely on community generosity to keep programs affordable and accessible. Hosted by AMP and Indio Taphouse and sponsored by Carpet Empire Plus, this lively afternoon will spotlight the Valley’s next generation of musicians, featuring:
- Live performances by AMP Alumni and local youth musicians
- Appetite-worthy food and drinks
- Family-friendly games
- A community raffle
- A special presentation about AMP’s mission and impact
With general admission at just $20 and VIP seating at $150 (which includes two seats and food for two), it’s designed to be a true FUNDday — fun for families, exciting for music lovers, and deeply meaningful for the young people who benefit from AMP’s programs.
Why Fundraising Matters More Than Ever
Unlike many music or youth programs that rely on dependable annual government funding, AMP must fundraise every single year to keep its doors open. Every dollar raised at AMP Bash directly supports:
- Tuition scholarships
- Outreach in underserved communities
- Equipment upgrades
- Year-round programming for aspiring musicians
These funds ensure that no young person in the Valley is turned away due to financial limitations.
A Decade of Impact — Even Through Crisis
Over the last ten years, AMP has changed the lives of countless teens from Palm Springs to Indio. The organization became even more vital during the COVID-19 shutdowns, when AMP pivoted immediately to fully virtual programming so teens could stay connected, keep learning, and keep expressing themselves during a time of intense isolation.
This success is rooted in AMP’s team of dedicated instructors who continually go the extra mile — fostering creativity, collaboration, and leadership skills that last long after a teen leaves the stage. The result: alumni who go on to study music, join bands, become teachers, launch creative careers, or simply carry with them a lifelong love of the arts.
