Grand Opening  May 1, 2015, Displaying Tim Burton Artwork

After nearly a year in the making, Bart Lounge is pleased to announce its Grand Opening Weekend beginning Friday, May 1, 2015. The festivities will start at 8:00PM featuring the debut of owner Michael Murphy’s private collection of Tim Burton art, along with the music of guest DJ Lightknife from the duo Black Boots, and $2 Drinks and PBRs!

Bart is the fusion of artist Michael Murphy’s (www.michaelkmurphy.com) love for art, music, and the occasional alcoholic beverage. Bart is a modern, hip, quirky bar/lounge and art gallery serving the greater Palm Springs area with live music, entertainment, special events, and unique art exhibits.

In addition to featuring artwork from renowned artists such as Dr. Seuss, Alex Pardee, Dan May, Mark Ryden, Sweetoof, and more – the art enthusiast will also be visually treated to over 20 hand painted murals throughout the venue including works by street artist Wrdsmth, Rambo Vongvichit, Kat Bing and Michael Murphy. For a limited time, Bart will have on display Michael’s private Tim Burton art collection featuring over 17 works of art, encompassing lithographs, a rare large scale Polaroid, and five original pieces.  In addition, Bart will showcase works from other artists, both local and renowned, on a dedicated gallery space.

“I have always had a tremendous love for all art forms, be it photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, or music” said Michael Murphy, “and I couldn’t think of a better way to give others an outlet to showcase their incredible talents than with opening my art inspired Bart.”

The newly renovated venue boasts a huge bar, comfortable seating, large dance floor and performance stage, outdoor patios, pool table, and even vintage gaming. Customers at Bart will be able to enjoy selections from Sega Genesis and Atari consoles and play directly on the screens above the bar.  While enjoying a variety of truly inspired cocktails, whiskeys, scotch and beers, customers can indulge themselves in a large selection of classic board games, including Clue, Life, The Dating Game, and many others.

“I was really excited to find a location in the Palm Springs area where I could bring together a truly diverse crowd of creative people that share my love for art, music and alcohol,” said Murphy, “Bar + Art = Bart. Party on!”
