CATHEDRAL CITY, CA – COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY announces its 2023 SUMMER CABARET SERIES, presented in CVRep’s casual, intimate setting every Thursday evening from May 4 through August 24. Each performer is a captivating storyteller, using music, personal experiences, and passions to take audiences on memorable journeys. The series opens with Melissa Errico on May 4, followed by Alan H. Green (May 11), Steve Ross (May 18), Teri Ralston and Alix Korey (June 8), two evenings with Glenn Rosenblum and guest artists (June 15 and August 3), Christiane Noll (June 22), Flamenco Company Miguel Bernal (July 13), Maximo Marcuso (July 20), Christia Mantzke (July 27), Lisa Vroman (August 10), Mark Evans (August 17) and artists from CVRep’s acclaimed production of ONCE: Molly Coyne, Trevor Lindley Craft and Eileen Doan (August 24).

MELISSA ERRICO │May 4, 2023 – NO ONE IS ALONE – MELISSA ERRICO REMEMBERS STEPHEN SONDHEIM – Broadway star, Tony Award nominee, actress, singer and author Melissa Errico performs her very personal one-woman tribute to the late, great genius of American musical theatre. She will sing all of the Sondheim standards, interspersed with stories and insights from her decades-long relationship with him. One critic said that hearing Errico singing Sondheim left him, “Stunned into an amazing feeling of having witnessed something life changing, life enhancing and of incredible beauty.”
ALAN H. GREEN │May 11, 2023 – “Powerful voice,” “dynamic stage presence” and “incredible versatility” are all phrases used to describe this charismatic Broadway veteran. Green has appeared in hit shows such as Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, School of Rock, Sister Act and Play On! Off-Broadway credits include Broadway Bounty Hunter and Happiness at Lincoln Center. He has been featured in regional theatre productions across the county. Green received a prestigious Berkie Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical and BroadwayWorld’s Best Performer. In addition to his stage and television work, Green has performed at the White House, Radio City Music Hall, and the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
STEVE ROSS │ May 18, 2023 – Returning to Coachella Valley Repertory with An Evening With Steve Ross, the “Crown Prince of New York Cabaret” (NY Times) brings his personal tribute to Fred Astaire. He’ll perform classics by music titans George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim and Noel Coward. A magician of the keyboard, Ross is as debonair as Astaire, with the wit and sophistication of Coward and Porter. Acclaimed in London and adored in NYC, Ross proves that glamorous evenings still happen. The London Times hailed his show as “the smoothest cabaret act in the world.” Above all, all else, Steve Ross is just plain fun.
TERI RALSTON│June 8, 2023 – Teri Ralston has been a dominant figure in the musical theatre world since her debut as young Luisa in The Fantasticks. She has worked with many of the great songwriters of our time, including Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz and Cy Coleman. Schwartz created the role of Denise in Baker’s Wife for her. She was the leading lady in Coleman’s Home Again, Home Again, Jenny in the original cast of Company, and originated the role of Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music. Ralston has taken her cabaret act around the world, and was the soloist with Michael Feinstein and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and the New Mexico Symphony.
ALIX KOREY│June 8, 2023 – Alix Korey is a veteran of eight Broadway shows, the last being All Shook Up. Others include costarring roles in Chicago, Neil Simon’s 45 Seconds From Broadway, Triumph Of Love, Ain’t Broadway Grand and Pirates Of Penzance. Off- Broadway, she originated roles in The Wild Party (Drama Desk nomination), No Way To Treat A Lady (Outer Critics Circle nomination) and Suburb (Dramaleague award), among many others. She has appeared in numerous films and prime time TV shows, and has released two award-winning solo CDs.
BROADWAY SHOWSTOPPERS with GLENN ROSENBLUM │ June 15, 2023 – Glenn Rosenblum is joined by Jackie Joseph and Alix Korey for this wonderful evening. Rosenblum uses the stage to share music and his vast knowledge of musical theatre to tell his own story through song and fun anecdotes. He’s been called a cross between Nathan Lane and Ethel Merman. Celebrating the music from Peter Pan, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Funny Girl, Zorba, The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd and more! JACKIE JOSEPH│June 15, 2023 – Actress and writer Jackie Joseph portrayed Audrey Fulquard in the original version of The Little Shop of Horrors, as well as Charlene Hensley in Hogan’s Heroes, Sheila Futterman in Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Mrs. Kirkland in Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment and Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol, and was the voice of Melody in the animated series, Josie and the Pussycats. Her career, especially in television and film, began as a featured performer and singer in the Billy Barnes Revue of 1958. Among her many film credits, Joseph played the love interest of Willie (played by Bob Denver) in the film Who’s Minding the Mint?
CHRISTIANE NOLL │ June 22, 2023 – Broadway star and concert artist Christiane Noll has been nominated for Tony and Drama Desk awards and received the Helen Hayes Award for Mother in the revival of Ragtime. She starred in the first National Tour of Dear Evan Hansen, later taking over the role of Cynthia Murphy on Broadway. Noll made her Broadway debut as Emma in Jekyll & Hyde, receiving a FANY award and garnered a second Drama Desk nomination for Chaplin on Broadway. She was Sister Margaretta in NBC’s The Sound of Music Live with Carrie Underwood. She also appeared on Broadway in Elf and It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues, and toured in Urinetown, The Mambo Kings, Grease!, Miss Saigon and City of Angeles.
FLAMENCO COMPANY MIGUEL BERNAL │ July 13, 2023 – Bernal is passionate about preserving and performing the glorious and authentic tradition of dance in Spain. In their magnificent classic flamenco costumes and dancing to the raw flamenco music, Bernal’s company performs this revered art with heat, passion, and seduction. Bernal started his professional dance career as a child, performing for many Latin and Hollywood celebrities. He studied classical and flamenco dance with renowned artists in Spain, Mexico City and Los Angeles. In the US he was a featured performer of the Jose Greco and Nana Lorca Dance Company. MAXIMO MARCUSO │July 20, 2023 – Internationally acclaimed tenor Maximo Marcuso thrills audiences with his beautiful and diverse repertoire of operatic arias, classical crossovers, Broadway standards and contemporary favorites. His recent engagements include European venues in Berlin, Frankfurt and Rome, as well as in New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlantic City, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Ensemble, Santa Monica and Nevada symphonies, Pasadena Symphony and Pops Orchestra, the Golden State Pops Orchestra Hollywood Ensemble Opera and, for several years, the Crystal Cathedral Hour of Power Philharmonic. CHRISTIA MANTZKE │ July 27, 2023 – In this exclusive one-night event, Broadway performer and Billboard Award-winning EMI recording artist Christia Mantzke sings some of her favorite songs from productions over her past thirty years as an entertainer. She will share vocal snapshots of her theatrical career, along with stories from the road. With songs like “Proud Mary,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” the audience will be taping their feet, singing, laughing, and, perhaps, shedding a few tears as they join her along this musical walk down memory lane. Critics have raved, Mantzke can “sing notes that have yet to be invented,” and hailed her as “a sheer pleasure to watch.”
GLENN ROSENBLUM with ALIX KOREY, LESLIE STEVENS & DAVID ENGEL │ August 3, 2023 – Glenn Rosenblum continues his survey of musical theatre classes with a second installment of BROADWAY SHOWSTOPPERS with GLENN ROSENBLUM. A captivating storyteller with an encyclopedic knowledge of Broadway history will be joined by Alix Korey, Leslie Stevens and David Engel.
LESLIE STEVENS – Performer, choreographer, writer and teacher, Stevens created the role of Anne in La Cage Aux Folles, appeared in Victor/Victoria with Julie Andrews, and was Ariel in the US premiere of Grumpy Old Men. She has appeared from coast to coast, especially loving the roles of Roxie in Chicago, Diana in Lend Me A Tenor, Masha in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Lola in Damn Yankees, Sally Slaton in Parade and Cinderella’s Stepmother in Into The Woods. Stevens was a soloist for Hubbard Street Dance and for LA Opera. She choreographed the LA Phil’s production of Nixon in China at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and for Into The Woods, Side Show, The Full Monty (LADCC Nomination), Hello, Dolly!, Oklahoma! and Sunday In The Park With George.
DAVID ENGEL – David Engel has performed all over the world and has appeared in numerous Broadway productions, including Putting It Together, Seussical: The Musical, and originated the role of Hanna from Hamburg in the original 1983 Tony Award winning production of La Cage Aux Folles. He created the role of Smudge in the original New York and London-West End productions of Forever Plaid and Plaid Tidings, and in Forever Plaid: The Movie. He has won the LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award six times. Engel has also starred in Crazy For You, Singin’ In The Rain, The Addams Family, White Christmas, The Full Monty and many others.
LISA VROMAN │August 10, 2023 – She is incomparable. Lisa Vroman is a star of Broadway and opera stages, in concert halls and grand celebrations around the world. Her voice is “crystal clear and beautiful.“ Lisa Vroman made her Broadway debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love. She also starred on Broadway and in Los Angeles and San Francisco as Christine Daaé in his The Phantom of the Opera, garnering theater critics’ awards for her portrayal. Vroman also holds the distinction of being the first to play both Fantine and Cosette in Les Misérables. One critic wrote, “Vroman has a voice that’s more ballsy than an angel, but with such unimaginable suppleness, fluidity and range that time stops when she opens her mouth.”
MARK EVANS │August 17, 2023 – Evans is a renowned actor, singer and dancer with a large variety of Broadway and West End credits to his name, including lead roles in Mrs. Doubtfire, Waitress, The Play That Goes Wrong, Wicked, The Book of Mormon, Titanique, Ghost The Musical, Oklahoma!, The Rocky Horror Show, High School Musical, I Married An Angel, Me And My Girl, Mary Poppins, Singin’ In The Rain, Finian’s Rainbow, Spamalot, and many more. Evans released his debut album, The Journey Home – Deluxe edition, in the fall of 2012. He co-authored the book, Secrets Of Stage Success, with his Wicked co-star, Louise Dearman. He will perform HIDE & SEEK, a hilarious and touching true story written, produced and performed by Evans, and dedicated to anyone who seeks to bring their authentic self to the surface.
THE HEART HEALTHY TRIO │ August 24, 2023 – Coachella Valley Repertory proudly presents three stellar young artists from this past season’s production of Once. They were cheered by audiences and praised by critics. CVRep brings them back to close the 2023 Summer Cabaret Series. And it’s going to be a fun evening, guaranteed.
MOLLY COYNE – Critics singled out Molly Coyne for her performances here in Once. She lives in New York City and has performed Off-Broadway and in many regional theaters along the East Coast. She can be seen in commercials for Petco, Heinz, and the recruiting website, WorkingNotWorking.com.
EILEEN DOAN – Eileen Doan is a singer-songwriter and actor based in Chicago. Her previous credits include Cambodian Rock Band, The Great Leap, and Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play. Doan is passionate about Asian-American representation in theatre and eileendoan.com | @eileeneileend.
