Not your traditional interpretation of Carlo Collodi’s 1883 novel, THE ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO: THE STORY OF A PUPPET or the Mouse’s classic animated film, but a brilliantly reimagined, fast-paced play-within-a-play by GREG BANKS with music by VICTOR ZUPANC.  (Banks and Zupanc were the genius team behind last year’s CVRep fan-favorite production of SNOW WHITE.)  Five actors play multiple characters who enlist children in the audience to help propel the story forward. From the moment Geppetto creates him from a lump of wood, Pinocchio dreams of being a real boy, but will the all-too-tempting delights of puppet shows and Playland be too much for him? Will he have the will and courage to save Geppetto from the giant whale? Will THIS Pinocchio have a happily-ever-after ending? (Need you ask?)

PINOCCHIO is a ticketed event with open seating. One of the goals of CVRep is to make theatre accessible to all families in our community, so tickets are offered on a ‘Pay-What-You-Want’ basis. They will be available starting October 15. There is a four-seat maximum per order.

Director HOWARD SHANGRAW said, “In Greg Banks’ Pinocchio, theater magic appears from ladders, paint brushes, wood chips and grocery carts. The actors create Pinocchio’s world before our eyes, from Geppetto’s workshop to the belly of the monstrous whale! The cast engages with children in the audience, making them active participants in the creative process. For older members of the audience, we see the power of love and self-worth. Truly a play for all ages, Pinocchio inspires us to go out and create our own art experiences with young and old, using whatever means are at hand.”

Each actor portrays multiple roles. The cast of PINOCCHIO includes JOEY KOLODYHALEY KOOYMANJOSHUA RACHDOUGLAS SORENSON and CHUCK YATES. In addition to Shangraw as director, PINOCCHIO set design is by Jimmy Cuomo, wig and makeup design is by Lynda Shaeps, lighting design by Moira Wilkie Whitaker, sound design by Joshua Adams. Stage manager is Melina Ginn.

Performances of PINOCCHIO are Thursdays and Fridays, November 6, 7, 13 & 14, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, November 8, 9, 15 & 16 at 2 p.m. As noted, PINOCCHIO is a ticketed event with open seating. Tickets are available on a ‘Pay-What-You-Want’ basis. They will be available starting October 15. There is a four-seat maximum per order.
