Much like the Bluebird Café in Nashville, Mojave Gold in Yucca Valley is set to host their first Songwriter In The Round event on Wednesday, November 12th.
The evening is spearheaded by legendary singer-songwriter, Brad Parker. The prolific musician and producer has worked across musical genres. His songs have been recorded by Cher, Edgar Winter, Karla Bonoff, Andrew Gold, K.T. Oslin and Eleanor McEvoy, just to name a few. Country singer Kathy Mattea took his song, “Nobody’s Gonna Rain On Our Parade” to the top of the charts in 1986. Throughout the years, he’s shared stages with Bo Diddley, Cyndi Lauper, Gregg Allman, Robert Cray, Johnny Rivers, Dan Gogelberg, Billy Burnette, Brenda Russell and Eddie Money. He has also collaborated with superstar songwriters like Barry Mann, Wendy Waldman, Eric Kaz and Paul Williams. Brad has hosted open mic and in the round groups throughout the world. He’s worked internationally with songwriters in Bali, Estonia, Indonesia, Ireland, Jakarta and the Soviet Union. Closer to home, he has hosted events in Los Angeles, Nashville and the High Desert.
Mojave Gold’s inaugural showcase will feature eight songwriters. They will perform in two groups of four. Each musician will tell a bit about themselves, share stories and insights behind the songs, as they go around in a circle. Taking turns, they will play a total of four songs each. Brad will begin each round by introducing the musicians on stage and performing one of his own songs.
This initial showcase will feature well-known High Desert musicians like Pat Kearns and Robert Garson and Lisa Rae Black who has fronted bands like Bellylove, Black Sugar and Hammer Of Ozz. Representing the Lo-Desert is acclaimed singer-songwriter Rick Shelley. Other participants include Christy Fisher, Cooper Gillespie, Palo Xanto and Lisa Lynn Morgan.
