The Coachella Valley metal scene is about to witness a night unlike any other. For fans of underground heavy music, Remnants of Man, Perishment, Menzrea, and Sangre are joining forces for an epic evening at The Dune Room.
Remnants of Man, Perishment, and Menzrea are all reuniting for the occasion, while Sangre makes a long-awaited return to the Coachella Valley stage after more than a decade. Together, these four bands promise an unforgettable night of crushing riffs, blistering drums, and pure desert metal energy.

Remnants of Man – Reuniting Legends
After years away, Remnants of Man is returning to the stage, bringing their signature blend of melodic death metal back to the Coachella Valley. Fans of the early desert metal scene will get a chance to relive the intensity of a band that helped shape the local underground.
CVW: Take us back to the beginning, how did Remnants of Man first come together in the Coachella Valley metal scene?
ROM: We all grew up in a large group of kids who enjoyed heavy music/heavy metal. Our shared love for the music naturally progressed into small projects that, in our early adult lives, led to the formation of Remnants of Man. Our transition into the scene started like any other garage band, playing backyard parties, networking with more established bands, and progressing on to our first bar gigs.
CVW: The desert has always had a strong underground music culture. What was the local metal scene like when the band first started?
ROM: When we started, the desert was hungry for a heavier music scene and we just happened to be in the right place at the right time. From backyards in Coachella, generator shows in the desert, to small bars in Palm Springs and eventually larger venues in Palm Desert and Indio – the crowds were ravenous and ready for any heavy band to show up. “The pits would spill onto the stage, and I loved it. I’m not sure I’ll be moshing while singing these days, but damn it was fun back then, maybe I will” – Joe
CVW: The band has been quiet for a while. What led to the hiatus, and what sparked the decision to reunite now?
ROM: After nearly 10 years of actively playing and at the height of our career, life intervened and set us all on our own paths. The decision to reunite came about because our fans and friends, year after year, continued to ask for it and express how much the music meant to them. How many local bands can say something like that, 10 years after going on a hiatus? We’re forever grateful to the fans.
CVW: When the idea of this reunion show came up, what was the first thing that went through your mind?
ROM: We knew we owed it to the fans, friends and family who put all they did into us during our time as a band. We knew we owed it to Phil and Tracy and the staff of CVWeekly who backed us at every corner all those years ago. When the request came in this time around, the response from all five of us was immediate “For Phil & Tracy, Yes!”
CVW: Your sound has always blended melodic death metal with serious aggression. What bands or influences helped shape it?
ROM: As childhood friends, Ruben and Rudy learned heavy metal guitar by playing along to Metallica, which later shifted into a more melodic death metal vibe as they were introduced to Swedish Gothenburg metal bands such as In Flames, Arch Enemy etc. their influence can definitely be heard throughout the Remnants catalog.
CVW: You’ll be playing at The Dune Room. What can fans expect from the set?
ROM: They can expect to hear the hits, witness the usual stage antics and sheer epicness they remember ROM bringing to the stage…just a decade older.
CVW: The lineup also includes Perishment, Menzrea, and Sangre. What does it mean to share the stage with other local heavy bands?
ROM: The privilege of playing with our brothers from these bands again is the perfect call back to some of the best nights we ever performed, it nods back to one the heaviest times in the Coachella Valley metal scene. It’s the perfect Reunion gig for all the fans of that era.
CVW: Is this a one-night reunion, or could we see more from Remnants of Man in the future?
ROM: We’d been asked a handful of times over the years to come back and do this and it took a lot to make it happen this time. We owe a “goodbye” to the long time friends, family and fans who kept this machine moving back in the day. So that’s what we’re here to do, say “goodbye” and “thank you”.
For one night, Remnants of Man will reignite the desert metal scene. With a stacked lineup, fans old and new will witness a night of raw energy, riffs, and nostalgia that proves the Coachella Valley’s heavy music legacy is alive and thriving.
Perishment – Returning Titans
Known for their relentless intensity, Perishment helped define the darker side of desert metal. After stepping away from performing, they are now reuniting for this special night, ready to deliver the aggression and energy fans remember.
CVW: How did Perishment first form, and what inspired the band to dive into heavier metal?
Perishment: Perishment formed in 2005 by Bobby after his first project, Ritual Hatred disbanded. Our sound really started to develop with our first stable line-up emerging in 2008 and continued to evolve with each of our releases and subsequent lineup changes.
CVW: What was the metal scene like in the Coachella Valley during Perishment’s early days?
Perishment: Our earliest shows were in the I.E. thanks to our brothers in Sangre, Death is Eternal and Dyer. It was amazing and we learned a lot! When we finally brought our live focus home in 2008, the metal scene was already blowing up here in the CV! Before they joined the band, Tommy played drums for Hatred Reborn and Hollow Grounds and Ruben was fronting Menzrea. It was a lot of fun!
CVW: Perishment always had a dark, aggressive edge. What influenced your sound?
Perishment: The day to day of life is what inspired our sound and vibe. Musically we have many similar influences, but also many off-the-wall influences that make for an interesting sound, for the better or the worse.
CVW: What led to the band stepping away from the stage?
Perishment: There was nothing specific, we just moved in opposite directions in life. Then add bitch ass Covid to the menu and it really sealed the hiatus deal.
CVW: What convinced you now was the right time to reunite?
Perishment: This show! This show, with these bands! There is such a rich history with all these bands (and the promoter wink, wink). A truly full circle moment.
CVW: What can fans expect from your set at The Dune Room?
Perishment: Unfortunately, our brother Aaron Ramson is unable to participate in the reunion. So rather than try and replace him we are playing as a three piece. Sounds crazy but we will have a no frills, punishing set, sonically and musically. Maybe the most focused we have ever been. Although not performing with us, we got to give a big shout out to our former drummer, Devin Jay and former vocalist, Ryan Barneck!
CVW: How meaningful is it to see longtime fans still supporting the band?
Perishment: It’s incredible! It is hard for us to think of anyone caring about the band at all let alone this far down the road. We are grateful.
CVW: Is this reunion a one-time event or the start of more shows/music?
Perishment: Preparing for this show has been amazing reconnecting with each other. It’s been an inspiring experience! So, you never know…

Menzrea – Desert Metal Veterans
After years away, Menzrea is also returning to perform live, bringing their tight riffs and crushing rhythms back to the stage. Known for balancing melody and aggression, they are a desert metal favorite and a reunion fans won’t want to miss.
CVW: How did Menzrea form, and what inspired your approach to desert metal?
Menzrea: Ray and Frankie met Chris playing guitars at the old Musicians outlet and Frank gave Chris a Roadrunner United record and we learned a little and bam, Menzrea.
CVW: What was it like being part of the underground scene here in the valley?
Menzrea: It was refreshing to meet and see the large amount of support the local community showed for metal. Every show was high energy and intense. Never a dull show!
CVW: Who or what influenced your sound over the years?
Menzrea: Menzrea members all have very different influences. But we all share the same metal music inspiration, from Trivium, Devil Driver, Lamb of God, but all of us have our own influences and that helps with the creative concoction of chaos and melody Menzrea brings to the table every time.
CVW: What led to the band taking a break from performing?
Menzrea: Different musical projects, as well as careers and business.
CVW: What inspired the decision to reunite now?
Menzrea: It was just a spur of the moment thing. But our guitarist Chris has been working a lot with music and audio engineering, so it has sparked a new interest in a new metal album. So it was just the perfect Storm.
CVW: How has it felt rehearsing together again after so long?
Menzrea: Our chemistry has always been so natural that it was just like it always has been. Just flowing. Natural; and easy to do because of such
CVW: What can fans expect from your set at The Dune Room?
Menzrea: HOGH ENERGY. Melodic harmonies, guitar solos that tell stories. Vocals bleed charisma, and drums that keep the pace of this intense experience. So in short, Intense sonic landscapes.
CVW: Is this reunion a one-time event, or are there more shows ahead?
Menzrea: Can’t say for sure, we gotta see how addicted the dopamine fix of this show gets us!
Menzrea’s return promises a night of energy, nostalgia, and powerful performances. Together with the other bands, they’re set to make The Dune Room a landmark stage for desert metal history.
Sangre – Return to the Coachella Valley after 3 Years
Sangre: Though not originally from the Coachella Valley, Sangre is returning to the local stage after more than 3 years. Known for their dark, driving metal, the band brings an outside perspective and a powerful presence to this historic night.
CVW: It’s been over a decade since Sangre last played in the valley. How does it feel to return?
Sangre: It feels great to get back to the Valley after all these years. We’ve always had killer shows whenever we play at out there.
CVW: How does performing here compare to other shows you’ve done elsewhere?
Sangre: There’s always been what appears to be a hungry Metal community in the Coachella Valley. I’m guessing its because there isnt really as many shows or bands in the area compared to the Los Angeles or even the Inland Empire metal scene. You could say they arent as spoiled so the metal shows are much more appreciated in the Valley.
CVW: How have your influences shaped your signature sound?
Sangre: Over the years we have been influenced by a number of factors. Different bands, Social situations, political climate, life experiences etc… have all contributed to the ever evolving sound of SANGRE. We definitely have an identifiable sound of our own but it has changed with the times.
CVW: During your time away, what was the band focusing on?
Sangre: Since the last time we performed in the Valley we have been busy with life, kids, family, and taking our time writing new music which we have already begun recording and hope to complete in the next few months. Myself and our bassist also perform in another international touring band so we have been pretty busy with that as well.
CVW: How has it felt preparing for this special Coachella Valley performance?
Sangre: It’s very exciting and we have put together a brutal set of Sangre classics and we may even debut a new unreleased song at the show.
CVW: Sharing the stage with Remnants of Man, Perishment, and Menzrea, what can fans expect from your set?
Sangre: As i mentioned, we will be pulling out some classic SANGRE cuts from years past. Bobby from Perishment was once a member of Sangre so he knows about the classics in our catalog of music, and we have been getting song requests from our Valley fans so we are hoping they all like what we offer at this upcoming show.
CVW: Does this performance signal more Coachella Valley shows in the future?
Sangre: Oh most definitely! We are hoping to play more shows throughout the rest of the year and into 2027. We are being methodical about where and when we perform. We want to play all the time but we know that just as we are, a lot of our fans are older now and life these days comes with more responsibilities and less time to let loose and have fun so we gotta make sure every show is something to truly look forward to.
