This Friday night at Schmidy’s Tavern in Palm Desert, Coachella Valley Weekly presents ‘Desert Music Friends – Believing For Desi’. Scheduled to perform are Machin’, Giselle Woo and the Night Owls, Mikey Reyes Acoustic Movement, 3rd Ear Experience and short acoustic sets from Kelly Derrickson, Martin Barrera/Noe Gutierrez and Ckyle. Desirae ‘Desi’ Cechin is the five year old young lady who has won the hearts of many across the nation. Enough money was raised to allow her to receive the best treatment available at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York. Her surgery is scheduled for Thursday 8/21/14. This event is dedicated to her and her journey. In addition to the live music we will be holding a raffle of music items as well as selling Texas-style hot link sandwiches, hot dogs with all the fixings and macaroni salad on the Schmidy’s patio. 100% of the proceeds of both the raffle and the BBQ sales are going to ‘Believing For Desi’.
Some raffle items include merchandise bundles from John Garcia, Ozomatli, House of Broken Promises, KXM featuring Dug Pinnick (King’s-X), George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) and Ray Luzier (Korn), two tickets to Chris Botti, Gino Vannelli or George Benson courtesy of Fitz’s Jazz Café at the McCallum Theater, a signed poster by Sir Elton John, plus a bevy of items from local bands like Remnants of Man, Dirt, Galaxy Crusher, Long Duk Dong, Perishment, Burning Bettie, The Hellions and Rasun. Raffle tickets are $5 each or (3) for $12. They can be purchased through Noe Gutierrez on Facebook or you can buy them the night of the event. Winners need not be present at the time of the drawing.
