It isn’t so much a question as it is a common natural desire. Southern California has been in the frying pan of one of the most monstrous heatwaves in modern recorded history. Typically, we Coachella Valley residents receive at least some reprieve from the sun’s piercing summer rays at the end of the day. However, for what feels like a year already, we have received no such reprieve. Whether 9am or 10pm. Temperatures have exceeded 100 scorching degrees, and it’s about time we do something to protect ourselves.

To begin with, I advise being mindful of others, animals, and nature. If you have a back yard, make sure to keep it and its inhabitants hydrated. Put out a bowl of water every night for creatures that may arrive. Water your plants a little extra. If we each do our part, the whole will benefit.

When it comes to surviving the heat for humans, we often attribute water as the main source to do so. Water is important to our survival. After all, the human body is made up of 60-75% water, and that isn’t going to change any time soon. But did you know that the body also requires electrolytes, and that too much water consumption can in fact rid the body of these important transmitters …

Electrolytes can be found in many sports drinks. However, consuming them in this fashion isn’t optimal. Drinks such as Gatorade are great in a pinch, yet they are not as healthy a drink as anyone serious about their health should be consuming.

At Clark’s Nutrition & Natural Foods Market, and since 1972, our mission has always been to educate and support our local Southern California community with the best nutritional advice and highest quality foods and supplements on the market, and for over fifty years we have achieved just that. Undeniably, today’s generation understand a great deal more about health and the human body, and have access to some of the most scientifically advanced supplements in the world. Clark’s Nutrition & Natural Foods Market has a lot to do with that.

Whomever you may be, whatever you may do, electrolytes are an essential to have inside any home, condo, or apartment this summer. These packs of goodness can make the difference between an emergency, and survival while living in extreme temperatures.

At Clark’s we offer a wide variety of electrolytes – Trace Minerals, Ultima, Nuun Hydration, Bala and Liquid IV to name but a few.
