You may have heard it’s difficult to “Keep it Keto” for everyday living and especially while dining out or traveling. Choosing Keto or low-carb as your preferred lifestyle, for health, weight loss or weight management, should not present huge challenges even to those living restaurant-to-restaurant!

You can navigate this lifestyle and “Keep it Keto” no matter what! Online advice and Right now, I have a client who is staring down thyroid cancer and is doing auto-immune Keto to heal.  We are doing this together…. along with the support of her doctor. Another client just hit her 60-pound mark and she reached out and we worked her through a stall. And yet another miracle as a client worked with her doctor to get off blood pressure medication.  With Keto being about health first then weight loss and weight management secondary I prioritize their goals and we create a custom plan to fit their preferences and lifestyle.

Everyone’s Keto or low carb diet is different and there just isn’t one-size-fits-all as you’ve read about online. That’s where I can help anyone choosing Keto/low carb…on the go…on a budget…or anytime.  If you are struggling to keep it Keto, you may find some of these apply to you on your Keto journey:

  • do you having problems sticking to your diet
  • do you keep losing and regaining the same five pounds
  • do you still crave desserts, even keto ones? (and indulging too often)
  • do you still struggle to figure out what to eat to keep Keto/low carb foods satisfying and interesting
  • do you feel overwhelmed because carbs are everywhere we turn… so you give into “carb temptation” over and over

These are common comments that I hear from hundreds of women.  And, our society supports “carb overload” on a daily basis to the detriment of our health. You are not alone and I find that women are willing to ask for support and expert guidance but find online resources confusing and conflicting.  They want to know where to find realistic and proven expert tips, hacks, recipes, and mindset management to get past any barriers for weight loss.

Here’s are a few of my personal experiences with “Keeping it Keto” and I have many more diet hacks and tips I’d be willing to share.

Always Be Prepared. By planning ahead, you won’t even be tempted and won’t get caught with your Keto pants down! Always have something (like a small bag of nuts) with you. In your purse, pantry, car or wherever you are so you don’t give into carbs.

Intermittent Fasting. Fast between meals and don’t snack.  It will boost your results with Keto. Most of our society is in the habit of eating 3 meals a day and then snacking  in-between and this starts from the time they wake up into the evening.  Easy Peasy!

Eating out. Restaurant dining is a key part of staying Keto. Here are a few quick tips to help you have confidence while eating out. Always tell your waiter you have food allergies (rather than explaining the low carb/Keto thing ) they will want to please you and keep you healthy):

  • Opt for double veggies instead of bread or potatoes
  • Choose water or straight spirits instead of beer and wine
  • Prioritize protein and fat before other foods
  • Ask for “lettuce wraps” instead of buns
  • Always ask for butter and olive oil
  • Get a side of avocado
  • Don’t be afraid to ask what ingredients are in foods or ask for substitutes

A little preparation goes a long way with Keeping It Keto. You won’t be obsessed about food, or macros, or am I doing this right or battling temptations.  It will become second nature when dining out, fasting, or packing Keto friendly snacks if you are on the go or traveling. You’ll find a way to stick with your goals no matter what and enjoy the simplicity.
