Jazz Appreciation Month (fondly known as “JAM”) was created at the Smithsonian Institute in 2001 to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz for the entire month of April.
JAM is intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz – to study the music, attend concerts, listen to jazz on radio and recordings, read books about jazz, and more.
Smooth Jazz Music may Lower Blood Pressure! Between 30% and 50% of adults over the age of 50 are reported to have chronic hypertension, or high blood pressure. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to a number of dangerous complications, including, Heart attack, stroke and aneurysms. It is also reported to help stimulate the brain, and with chronic pain.
No matter what age you are, it’s important to take care of your physical and mental health needs. Making small lifestyle changes, from adjusting to your diet to meditating regularly, can have a huge impact on your overall well-being. One of the simplest things you can do to promote your health is listen to jazz music as it’s good for both the heart and soul.
Being JAM Month, I want to send a huge shout out of appreciation to Michael and Terri Paulo with Apaulo Productions. They have been providing some of the best smooth Jazz Concerts throughout Southern California for well over a decade. Michael is one of the most talented saxophonist I have ever heard and can jam with any bands that they host with their concert series without missing a beat!
The next concert is the Tris Imboden and the Yacht Stars Band. It is back by popular demand and they will be back at the Omni La Costa Resort on Sunday May 18th. Lead by drummer Tris Imboden who spent over twenty-five years touring with the band Chicago.
The Yacht Stars bring back the music of the 80’s performed by the musicians that helped create the Yacht Rock sound. Come and hear the music of Christopher Cross, Kenny Loggins, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, Hall and Oates and more!
