Founded by Paul Kantner in the ’70s, Jefferson Starship grew out of his artistic concept-album vision and a catalog of rock classics. The current lineup — featuring David Freiberg, Donny Baldwin (who joined in 1982), Chris Smith (since 1998), Jude Gold (since 2012), and Cathy Richardson (since 2008) — brings both pedigree and passion to every performance. The band describes themselves as a “family” and a “gang,” and that camaraderie comes through in their high-energy shows. They’ve toured extensively across all 50 U.S. states and multiple continents, and their 50th-anniversary “Runaway Again” tour is sweeping U.S. venues, delivering a mix of nostalgia and fresh live energy.
