The Joshua Tree Improv/Comedy Festival takes place July 7-9, 2017 at the Hi Desert Cultural Center, 61231 Highway 62, in Joshua Tree (just 1/2 mile from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park.) Improv teams, sketch comedy groups and stand-up comics will perform and compete. Audience voting determines winners.
A Friday night gala at 6:30PM will kick off the weekend with the performance, “You Make Me Laugh: A Love Song To Gilda Radner,” which is performed by the multi-talented actress/cabaret singer Francesca Amari. Saturday evening entertainment includes “The Very Nick and Zach Show,” an audience favorite from last year’s festival, and a world premiere performance by Melanie Chartoff, who starred and wrote for ABC’s late night comedy show, Fridays, alongside Larry David and Michael Richards. Chartoff also had starring and recurring roles on The Newhart Show, Married with Children, Seinfeld, Wise Guy, Allie McBeal, and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.
Saturday and Sunday workshops will take place from 11am-1pm. Saturday afternoon and evening performances and competitions begin at 2:30PM.
All events are open to the public.
