Local music man Krystofer Do has been crafting songs in the Coachella Valley for over a decade, and has just released his newest album, Love Algorithms, on all streaming platforms. This release materializes Do’s fascination with the concept of balance—pairing juxtaposing ideas in a marriage between organic and electronic soundscapes.

“I’ve loved martial arts since I was a kid, and balance was such a crucial part of learning. I figured you’d almost never see the words ‘love’ and ‘algorithms’ in the same sentence because they imply such different things. Love Algorithms is truly eclectic. I don’t say that as a buzzword; I simply mean it jumps from genre to genre. I don’t like writing with genre in mind. Some people would criticize me for that, but I truly love music in multiple genres. The album has elements of Pop, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Electro Pop. Pop is probably the underlying theme throughout the album,” explained Do.

Do has been conceptualizing an album since he was in high school, at the time, wasn’t knowledgeable about chords or song structure. He went through college and learned the mechanics of the skill, but reveals that his song writing process is not consistent with every track he composes, even looking back at his self-titled EP released in 2017.

“I like my leisure time and to stay present, sometimes to a fault. That said, I usually write my music and melodies first, with harmonies and some production to follow. Lyrics are usually last, but not all the time. One of my songs, ‘Control,’ was one of the first songs I’ve ever written, and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I downloaded a free trial for my now favorite DAW, ‘Mixcraft’, learned how to use my laptop’s keyboard to make sounds happen, and the rest is history,” shared Do.

Do hopes listeners feel the emotion behind every song in the album, as there are many songs that didn’t make it to the album, including one called ‘Resuscitated’ that Do hoped to finish, but didn’t get the chance, as he felt it wasn’t the right time for it to be released.

“Partially because I still don’t feel fully resuscitated, like the title suggests. I think it’ll be the opening song on my next album… In terms of Love Algorithms, I used to be in a band called Kyd Icarus when I first started doing music, and while hanging out at a jacuzzi late at night, my friend Jordan said, ‘You know what would be a cool title for something? Love Algorithms.’ I told him that night I’d use it, and I did! I miss that guy. He’s also a great musician,” revealed Do.

With the release of Love Algorithms, Do is donating 50% of the proceeds in album sales through Bandcamp to SafeHouse of the Desert—an organization founded with community support, providing emergency shelter, intervention and outreach services to youth in crisis.

“I’ve always loved SafeHouse of the Desert stands for. Unfortunately, so many of my friends have been affected by abuse, assault, and even trafficking. What SafeHouse does is really close to my heart, and I wanted to make a difference for everyone in my life who’s affected, and anyone beyond… This partnership is really personal for me, as well. Back in 2021, I hurt someone without meaning to by getting black out drunk and getting too touchy… It was a wake up call. I’ve gotten therapy, life coaching, and just realized that the party culture I was so used to growing up isn’t right… I didn’t wanna potentially get big in the industry without healing first, so part of the reason it took a long time for my album to get released is because I needed to change. I’m still in the process of doing so, but the progress has been exponential. Today is an age of accountability. I encourage families to teach their sons and brothers how to act accordingly, and for young men to treat women in their life appropriately as early as possible,” stated Do.

Currently, Do plays music with his girlfriend Leanne (stage name Elle Indigo) in their band Indigo x Do. While promoting his album, Do is also a voice coach at the Academy of Musical Performance (AMP) in Indio, which Do credits as an amazing place to learn music.

Listeners can find Krystofer Do’s music on every platform, and Love Algorithms is still available at krystoferdo.bandcamp.com, which is the only way to buy the album and donate 50% of the proceeds to SafeHouse of the Desert.
