Medical spas are a growing business in the Coachella Valley. Referred to as medical tourism, many come to the desert for rest, relaxation and recovery following a procedure. It is estimated that more than $14 billion is spent at MedSpas annually. More than 8,800 MedSpas employ 70,000 people.
For those unfamiliar with MedSpas, most are a blend of an aesthetic medical center and a day spa. MedSpas provide an array of non-surgical and aesthetic medical services by a trained professional who works under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional. Treatments include botox injections, liposuction, chemical peels, hair regeneration or removal, tattoo removal and much more.
One of the latest to enter the MedSpa business is Dr. Enrique Jacome. Most in the valley know him for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Jacome was the first surgeon in Riverside County to use the Da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system. With more than 1,000 procedures under his belt, Dr. Jacome expanded his practice into hormone therapies for women and men. Jacome has pioneered work on natural Hormone Replacement Therapy while receiving numerous awards for his work including Physician of the Year at Eisenhower Medical Center.
With Chase Baker, Dr. Jacome recently opened Juventas – Medical Spa of Rancho Mirage adjacent to his Fleur Women’s Health located on the northwest corner of Country Club Drive and Monterey Boulevard in Palm Desert.
Baker grew up in the Coachella Valley and attended College of the Desert before moving away to earn a biology degree at California State University – Channel Islands. Post-graduate work led him to northern California for neuroscience research at Amgen and a Master’s degree in Neuroimmunology. Baker’s prior research work includes studies on macular degeneration, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and breast cancer.
A quick look at some of their procedures offered by Juventas gives you an idea of the types of things that anyone can benefit from when visiting MedSpas.
Besides a more common offering like Botox injections, UmSculpt is a thirty-minute treatment done twice a week for three weeks where the user can gain 25% more muscle mass and 15% less fat.
CoolSculpt is a fat loss treatment done in two 45-minute sessions that are six weeks apart.
Alma Veil is a laser treatment that deals with vascular-related skin conditions caused by sun exposure, collagen depletion and weakened blood vessels. The intent here is to create a healthier complexion. The Alma CO2 Hybrid Laser is another skin treatment that helps clients rejuvenate and reduce the visible impact of scars, age or sun damage on your skin. In this treatment, a laser uses carbon dioxide and light to improve the appearance of the skin.
Lymphatic Suit is a 60-minute treatment that helps firm and tone the skin while aiding in digestion and surgical recovery. The focus here is on helping the lymphatic system to function more effectively and protect you from illness.
Umsellachair is a treatment for stress-induced urinary incontinence. The user is treated twice a week for three weeks. Treatments are the equivalent of 10,000 kegals. They also have a service called FemiLift that resurfaces the vaginal walls.
Duo is another twice a week for three weeks treatment meant for men with erectile dysfunction. It can help men and women increase blood flow to the nether regions to assist in orgasms.
Ted Hair Restoration is a 20-minute treatment that helps with thinning hair and baldness.
As you can see, medical spas can offer much more than one would initially think of a MedSpa. Think of the areas of your mind and body where you might want some help and there will likely be a treatment that helps.
