Meet me at LQ’s—the Wine Shop
When my copy of The Desert Sun’s April monthly magazine, Desert Magazine, arrived in my Sunday newspaper, I was looking forward to their annual “Best of the Desert” issue where for about 19 years now they have been taking votes by the consuming public here in the desert for everyone’s favorite and “best” shop, restaurant, business, etc.
Of course being your friendly wine columnist here in “The Vino Voice”, and coachellavalleyweekly.com, it’s not only my pleasure but my beat to check out all things on wine.
So immediately I rush over all the various categories in the Sunday magazine—you name it, they got it—to search for the people’s choice for the “best” wine store in the desert. Carla Breer Howard who is the editor of the Desert Magazine, herself, states: “The idea of ‘The Best’ is subjective. . .to be supported and celebrated in the moment.”
Well—congratulations to Trader Joe’s who was listed as the first choice of “The Best” wine shop. Now every other business category listed the 2nd and 3rd in the voting—but as to wine, only Trader Joe’s was listed. Hey! don’t we want to know about the other two wine shops that were voted upon so we can make our own “subjective” choice of the top three—as far as the Desert Magazine’s readers are concerned? I love a good mystery, but…
It just so happened this past week that the Wine Vault of Palm Desert (who by the way is my choice for the Best Refrigerated Wine Storage in the Desert) was putting on a wine tasting event for their clients and club members at the fairly new wine store here in desert, LQ Wine, 46520 Washington St. Ste. 1 La Quinta, Ca. 92253, 760.771.8466.
At this cool and chic corner wine shop, the happy wine crowd learned that LQ Wine was indeed voted the “Best Wine Shop in the Desert” after Trader Joe’s. Mystery solved!
While Trader Joe’s carries a lot of inexpensive wines that one can get lost in, LQ Wine carries a full range of wine and wine values along with the friendly and experienced wine service of its staff. This is a gem of a wine store that really puts an emphasis on getting the best value for your wine dollar so you will not be disappointed with your choice. The staff is there for you.
Their weekly wine tastings are on Thursday 4pm to 7pm where you and your friends can enjoy the fun banter around the wine bar while experiencing an array of wines to broaden your palette.
I’m going to spend some more of my quality wine time here checking out all the wines. So look for a follow-up article on some of the great selections on hand here. I’m writing quick on the draw so as to get a fun scoop—in writing—as to LQ Wine’s claim to fame here in the desert. Don’t worry Desert Magazine—we got your back!
Hey! Let’s have fun at the wine shop, that’s what it’s all about.
CHEERS!
