Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is kicking off the summer season in style this Memorial Day Weekend, offering visitors an elevated escape into the cool mountain air of Mount San Jacinto as extended hours, guided nature walks, and seasonal programming return. Beginning Friday, May 22 and running through Monday, September 7, 2026, the Tramway transitions into its summer schedule, giving guests more time to enjoy the dramatic 2.5-mile ascent from the desert floor to the alpine wilderness above.
On Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer season, the last tram up departs at 9:00 p.m., with the final descent scheduled for 10:30 p.m., allowing for sunset views, stargazing, and evening dining in the mountains. Peak dining also extends its hours, with Peaks Restaurant accepting last seating at 8:45 p.m., while Pines Café remains open until 9:30 p.m., offering convenient options for guests spending extended time at the top.
Memorial Day Weekend will feature special holiday hours as well. On Sunday, May 24, visitors can take advantage of the extended schedule with the last tram up at 9:00 p.m. and the final tram down at 10:30 p.m. On Monday, May 25, operations begin early with the first tram up at 8:00 a.m., the last ascent at 8:00 p.m., and the final descent at 9:30 p.m., accommodating increased holiday visitation.
Nature programming also returns as part of the seasonal offerings at Mount San Jacinto State Park. Guided Nature Walks led by State Park volunteers resume on Sunday, May 24 and continue every Sunday through September 6. Guests can choose between two accessible hikes: the Desert View Trail, a 1½-mile guided walk beginning at 11:00 a.m., and the Long Valley Nature Trail, a relaxed ¾-mile loop starting at 1:30 p.m. Both experiences require no advanced registration and are included with regular Tramway admission, making them an easy and enriching way to explore the high-elevation environment.
Throughout the summer, Mount San Jacinto State Park and its partners will also offer educational programming designed to help visitors understand and responsibly enjoy the region’s unique alpine ecosystem. Additional events and updates from the Natural History Association can be found at https://www.msjnha.org/events, while ongoing park programming is shared via @MountSanJacintoSP on social media.
With extended evening rides, guided hikes, and expanded programming, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s summer season offers a refreshing contrast to the desert heat below—inviting locals and visitors alike to experience one of Southern California’s most iconic mountain escapes.
