When I entered the New Age Glamour office, I was struck by the clinical atmosphere immediately.  I had assumed it would be set up more like a typical beauty salon.  Owner Sheryle Taffolla greeted me in scrubs, further instilling the impression that our topic of conversation was going to be handled with a much higher level of expertise and professionalism than I had initially anticipated.  This was not a stylist recommending color and cut, or even a makeup consultation.  This was about a permanent procedure; a procedure that those who entrust themselves to Sheryle’s knowledgeable care, will live with, on their face, permanently.  Sheryle Taffolla’s New Age Glamour is very likely this deserts most established permanent makeup studio.  Based on her impressive background, long list of credentials, confidential but extremely famous client list and longevity in this industry, I felt I had come to the right place to investigate this quickly growing form of beauty enhancement.
Permanent makeup, also known as micro-pigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, can eliminate the daily hassle of applying makeup. Permanent cosmetics never run or smear, and are great for people with allergies to traditional cosmetics, as well as for those who have a difficult time applying makeup. I would have found this particularly valuable during the recent music festivals.  Having to have my picture taken constantly, I could see the progression of my face melting as the warm days went on.  This form of tattooing, in which pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the skin, can be applied using a variety of tattoo methods.  According to Sheryle, it is important to know that your permanent makeup artist understands that this technique differs greatly from that of a typical tattoo artist.  “Where a tattoo artist needs to go with deep, solid colors that stand out, permanent makeup must be done in layers, causing a blended natural look, enhancing the natural beauty of your features.”  Considering that she has been doing this successfully, growing her satisfied clientele since 1976, I would have to say, she knows what she’s talking about.
Experienced technicians, like Sheryle, can create an extremely natural look with the proper application of permanent makeup. There are, however, risks associated with permanent makeup.  Bleeding may occur during the tattooing procedure.  Swelling, bruising, and tenderness of the treated area are common. Poorly sterilized tattooing equipment and/or poorly performed procedures can lead to permanent problems – problems like infections including Hepatitis C.  Aside from major health concerns, dissatisfaction is probably the largest risk factor associated with permanent makeup. Although there is some flexibility in changing the colors and shapes of permanent lip, eye, and eyebrow makeup, those considering permanent cosmetics must remember that the results are meant to last a lifetime.
Sheryle Taffolla is recognized as one of the leading experts in permanent cosmetic makeup artistry as well as an instructor in the United States.  She began her career as an electrologist. In 1988, she was certified to perform permanent makeup procedures and is now known as one of the pioneers in the permanent makeup industry. Since then, her business has served as the National headquarters for research for the American Institute of Permanent Color Technology.  Sheryle has served as the President for the American Association of Permanent Color Technicians from 1990 – 1991 and lectured for the Society of Permanent Color Technicians, The American Institute, Dermouflage Institute and the Perma-Derm Academy. She is listed in the State of the Art Micropigmentation Book as a founder and expert in the field and featured in the Who’ Who of permanent makeup.  The accolades, certifications and achievements go on and can be researched on the New Age Glamour website, along with testimonials from her very happy clients at http://newageglamour.com/index.htm
It just makes sense, that if you are considering a permanent procedure, to consult a business and a business woman who, based on her high standards and outstanding reputation, has become a permanent fixture in the industry and in our desert.  If there are any doubts, just make sure you take note of the larger than life, autographed photo of a well-known celebrity, displaying Sheryle’s artwork, who was recently shown in People Magazine.
New Age Glamour is located at 72-880 Fred Waring Dr. Suite A3 in Palm Desert. To make an appointment for a complimentary consultation with Sheryle, call 760-341-6606.
