Merh Bier, Bitte! (More Beer, Please!)

Oktoberfest begins this Saturday, September 20th and runs through the first weekend in October. This celebration dates back over 200 years. Once upon a time, Prince Ludwig of Bavaria married Princess Therese and invited all locals to join in the celebration of their matrimony with a parade, horse races and drink. This festival has grown to become the world’s largest with more than 6,500,000 visiting Munich, Germany with countless others celebrating worldwide.

While restaurants and bars across the desert will be paying homage to Oktoberfest, this is a good time to visit and sample the creations of our three local breweries: Babe’s BBQ, CV Brewery and La Quinta Brewery.
Voted the Best Micro-Brewhouse by CV Weekly readers in 2013, Babes is located at The River in Rancho Mirage. Opened seven days a week until 11pm, visit www.babesbbque.com for more information.

On Friday, September 19th at 6:30pm and again on Saturday, September 20th at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm, CV Brewery (Voted Best Micro-Brewhouse by CV Weekly readers in 2014) will be giving tours of their brewery. Before and after, visitors are invited to sample their numerous creations in the Taproom. CV Brewery is located at 30640 Gunther Street in Thousand Palms and is open Tuesday through Sunday.
