Film, Broadway, Comedy, Classical Music, Live Performance & More — June Through August

This summer, the Plaza Theatre is the place to be in downtown Palm Springs. The historic 700-seat venue presents continuous programming from June through August, with something new on stage or screen nearly every week.

The summer programming encompasses a wide range of entertainment: documentary film, live comedy, rock tributes, classical music, youth theatre, and opera, including two signature series: the Summer Broadway Cinema Series, bringing acclaimed stage productions to the big screen, and the Summer Sing-Along Series, inviting audiences to sing their hearts out to beloved film classics. Tickets are on sale now at palmspringsplazatheatre.com.

The full summer schedule is as follows:

JULY 5 JAWS (FILM)

JULY 9 & 10 & JULY 16 & 17  BROADWAY AT THE PLAZA: MUSICAL THEATRE UNIVERSITY

David Green’s Musical Theatre University, The Plaza Theatre, and the Palm Springs Unified School District present Broadway at the Plaza — a Regional Summer Stock featuring talented young people from throughout the Coachella Valley and Inland Empire. Two fully-staged productions run this summer:

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY (July 9 & 10): Newly revised by its original creator Gerard Alessandrini, this legendary long-running Off-Broadway revue delivers hilarious, razor-sharp parodies of Broadway’s biggest hits and brightest stars — with rapid-fire comedy and a deep affection for the art form.

FOOTLOOSE (July 16 & 17): The explosive musical adapted from the iconic film. Ren McCormack moves to a small town where dancing is banned — and leads the charge to bring music and joy back. Featuring “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” and more.
