Poet Rita Dove said that “Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful”, so starting in just two weeks, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. anyone is welcome to attend and participate in a NEW Poetry Club meeting once a month at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library. Together we will discover the power of language, led by T.S. Leonard, you can share your favorite poem, discuss your poetry, and explore a new theme each month; this month’s theme is LOVE!

The Poetry Club will provide a monthly opportunity to share and write poetry in a supportive, inclusive space. Bring a poem you wrote or a poem you love to share with the group, along with paper and a pen for guided writing. Poets of all levels of experience are welcome! The meetings will be the last Wednesday of the month at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library, February – May, 2025.

Poet T.S. Leonard will lead this discussion and offer writing prompts. Leonard’s work has appeared in Post RoadFourteen Poems, and Poetry and he has taught writing at the University of San Francisco, Maker Mentor Muse, and the Poetry Foundation.

The Welwood Murray Memorial Library is in downtown Palm Springs at 100 S. Palm Canyon Drive, the meeting will be in the Cornelia White Community room. This FREE community event is offered as part of the overall Palm Springs Public Library programming schedule.
