The Palm Springs International ShortFest unveiled its 2024 poster ahead of the upcoming event taking place June 18-24, 2024. Collaborating once again with renowned American artist and Palm Springs resident, Shag, this year’s distinctive and varied perspective design celebrates the ShortFest’s 30th-anniversary and the singular beauty of the Coachella Valley. ShortFest passes for the 2024 event are currently available at www.psfilmfest.org/shortfest-2024.
Shag, known for his distinctive and vibrant retro-style artwork, brings a wholly original vision to this year’s Festival poster. His distinctive artistic style draws from commercial illustration from the past five decades, imbued with an attitude and sly sense of humor that is unmistakably of our time. Solo exhibitions of Shag’s work have been held in the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and South America. He currently resides in Palm Springs, with the Shag Store located on Palm Canyon Drive. As a limited-edition collectible – and a must-have for cinema enthusiasts, art collectors and fans of Shag’s work – the 2024 poster will be available on the Festival website, the Shag Store and Destination PSP. During June’s ShortFest, the poster will also be available in-person at the Destination PSP pop-up store in the Regal Palm Springs lobby.
Discussing the poster’s influence, Shag said, “Inspired by our city and setting of Palm Springs, I wanted to express both the emotion of living in southern California, as well as the perspective of location shoots taking place across the Coachella Valley.”
“It is a joy to have Shag’s singular, fun style capturing and creating the expression of this year’s 30th-annual Palm Springs International ShortFest,” said Lili Rodriguez, Artistic Director of the Palm Springs International Film Society. “Engaging with visual ideas of perspective, a sense of summer in the Coachella Valley, as well as the lively atmosphere of ShortFest, we’re thrilled to once again partner with him!”
