Roselit Bone is set to play The Annex on Monday, September 11th. The Portland, Oregon combo, fronted by Charlotte McCaslin, has just released their latest album, Ofrenda.
The eight-piece, which includes Victor Franco on keys, Faith Grossnicklaus on violin, Jordan Vale on trumpet, piano and percussion, John England-Fisher (also) on trumpets, piano and percussion, Tobias Berblinger on bass, Brian Crace on guitar and backing vocals and Joe Benasi on drums, incorporates early influences like The Gun Club, Suicide, Ennio Morrico and hints of Mexican Ranchera music. Consequently, their sound is an irresistible smorgasbord of Rockabilly, Swamp and Garage Rock, shot-through with Latin lyricism and some Spaghetti Western heft.
Over the last decade, they’ve released three long-players, 2014’s Blacken & Curl, 2017’s Blister Steel and 2019’s Crisis Actor. Their newest effort, Ofrenda, captures the band at an emotional crossroads as they dealt with death, divorce, love, loss, survival, rebirth, gender epiphanies and new romance. Meanwhile, the world outside raged on with scorched earth politics, a cataclysmic pandemic, police violence and massive wildfires.
The Annex is part of The Giant Rock Meeting Room in Yucca Valley. 1141 Old Woman Springs Road, Yucca Valley. Tickets are available at: https://www.giantrockmeetingroom.com
