23rd Spring Joshua Tree Music Festival

Voted #1 Best U.S. Festival by USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2024

The 23rd Spring Joshua Tree Music Festival is happening May 15-18, 2025 at the Joshua Tree Lake Campground in Joshua Tree, CA. The fest is a family friendly, community-centric, global music campout experience in the magical Mojave. The four-day affair features a genre-diverse lineup backdropped by a uniquely inclusive, community-oriented atmosphere – a combination that has made the event a repeat Mojave Desert destination for camping festival-goers, and USA Today’s #1 U.S. festival in their 2024 10best Readers Choice Awards.

The boutique size of the fest fosters deep connections and makes it safe for the whole family. If massive crowds and long lines aren’t your thing, then this just might be the place. Says festival founder, Barnett English, “Countless times I’ve heard from attendees – we don’t attend other music festivals – but we come to this one! We strive to make it cozy, comfy and easy for all to enjoy, and want you to drive home rejuvenated and inspired.”

The lineup features an array of international musicians alongside a bevy of talented local acts, stylistically exploring global grooves, electro-funk, and a myriad of dance-inducing sonic goodness.  Singer-songwriters, rock n’ rollers, jazz-tastic fusionistas and more.

Dig the house music inspired live improv of Wajatta feat. Reggie Watts, the high flying, beat dopping dance party that is High Step Society, the old school taste and new school bass of Smoked Out Soul, the deep funk and soul of Brittany Davis, and from France, the one-man electro-Accordion ‘Rave-olution’ from Grayysoker.

Back by popular demand, the greatest solo entertainer roaming planet Earth today; Steve Poltz, will make you laugh, cry, sing and dance – all in one song. Mah Ze Tar will take you on an aural carpet ride around the world, the future-funk live electronic duo Future Joy will dance you up, and Nadav Dagon is bringing his hypnotizing 360 degree ‘Circle of Dreams’ show to Joshua Tree.  From Australia, the positively uplifting singer-songwriter-musician, Saritah, will soothe what ails with her soulful stylings.

Mornings begin at the Café Stage with heartfelt rootsicana sets by Jasmine Ride, Lisa Sanders & Brown

Sugar, and Kayla Diana. And after the main stage live music, the Boogaloo Lounge dance floor lights up with phenomenal DJ sets by Lil’ Chris, Shanell Grey, The Disco Shaman Is Real, Manila Vanilla, Starcat & Ay-lex Song.

Over its 20+ year existence, Joshua Tree Music Festival has built a reputation as an expert curator of rising acts, many of whom have gone on to have massively successful careers. Notable artists who got their start at Joshua Tree Music Festival include Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Trampled By Turtles, The Revivalists, The Avett Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass, Trombone Shorty, Maktub w/ Reggie Watts, Valerie June, Elle King, John Butler Trio, The Floozies, Mdou Moctar, The Main Squeeze, Rising Appalachia, Rubblebucket, Ibibio Sound Machine, Neal Francis, Polish Ambassador, Dirtwire, Orgone, Moon Hooch, and many more.

Joshua Tree Music Festival is also known for its repeat, intergenerational attendees; artisan, hand-crafted aesthetic; and intimate, easy-to-navigate layout that allows attendees to seamlessly transition from music, workshops, and campsites.

The festival’s non-music programming is a large part of what gives the festival its supportive community vibe, and features areas such as the Positive Vibration Station, where attendees can participate in Qi Gong, sound healing, dance, yoga, breath work and more under 1200 square feet of shade by the lake.

There’s also the Sanctuary, a circular earthen bench space created for conversational gatherings, mindfulness talks, and hanging out; the Queer Salon, a safe space for QTBIPOCC and LGBTQIAA+ individuals that includes three days of drag, queer and trans art, skills-share, racial justice talk, youth and local resources, and more; the Astro Mojo Dojo, JTMF’s tea lounge that features experiential learning, mediation, and of course, tea; the Kidsville, a family-friendly space with activities such as arts and crafts, face painting, yoga, and puppet, magic and improvisation shows; and the Healing Oasis, where a community of healers from all walks of life offer many and varied types of healing modalities.

There’s also a huge showcase of live painting, stunning murals, and interactive art installations to go alongside a large selection of food, beverage, and crafts vendors.

Most attendees camp out onsite, but the greater Joshua Tree area is home to thousands of lodging options (via VRBO & AirBnB) and local motels as well. All festival tickets include walk-in tent camping gear into the campground, and single-day tickets include camping for that night. If you wish to have your vehicle in the campground you need to purchase the appropriate vehicle pass.
