Palm Desert’s Tri-A-Bike has been a Coachella Valley fixture for 25 years

Spring is here—and what better way is there to enjoy the gorgeous Coachella Valley weather than riding a bike?
Bicycling is a wonderful way to have fun, travel and exercise at the same time. It builds strength, muscle and stamina, and improves heart health, circulation and coordination. It’s also a fine way to lose unwanted pounds without spending a fortune.
The folks at Palm Desert’s Tri-A-Bike tout the business—which opened in 1987—as “the oldest bike shop in the Coachella Valley.” The proprietor, David O’Donnell, is an experienced bicyclist who has been riding since 1978.
Tri-A-Bike carries a variety of bikes, both new and used, that would appeal to anyone from a beginner to an expert rider.
“We have bikes for everyone,” O’Donnell says. “We have mountain, road, comfort, hybrid, kids, BMX, cruisers and electric bikes.”
The store also offers almost every bicycle accessory imaginable, as well as rentals, repair services and tuneups—but O’Donnell says customer service is the thing that really sets Tri-A-Bike apart.
“It is beyond what other people in other stores can offer,” he says. “All the people who work here are experienced bike-riders who have an extensive knowledge of everything related to bikes.
“Riding is not just a job for us; it is our life. We understand what our customers’ needs are.”
Tri-A-Bike, 44841 San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert, is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m., Sunday. (The store is closed on Sunday from June through September.) For more information, call (760) 340-2840; email info@triabike.com; or visit www.triabike.com.
