There seems to be a resurgence of gritty soul-based Rock bands such as Dirty Honey, The Band Feel and Ace Monroe. The Blessings are in the mix as well. Whether it’s cyclical or filling a constant need for straight-up Bluesy Rock, it appears this breed of Rock and Roll is here to stay. Jeremy White, lead vocalist for The Blessings, has his own take on the genre. “It’s a little bit of both. The resurgence seems to come in waves every few years, but music steeped in roots is timeless. There will always be a need for it.”

The Blessings have ties to the High Desert, “We shot the front album cover for ‘Woke Up With The Noonday Devil’ in Landers. I frequent the desert as often as I can.”

The Blessing’s most recent album, 2024’s ‘Woke Up With The Noon Day Devil’ has a throwback feel and sound. White agrees and then some, “I’d say all of our albums have a throwback feel to it. We’ve always tried to make music that we would want to listen to. My past in music has always been this sound. Bluesy Rock ‘n’ Roll. We’ve never wavered from it.”

On the horizon for The Blessings is new music and touring. “We’re writing new songs currently with our new drummer Phil Rowland. We’re hoping to have a new record out this year. I’m very happy with how the new songs are shaping up. We’ll definitely be doing some touring to promote the record.”

White shares what he wants music fans to leave with after a Blessings show. “Hopefully they leave with a melody and a lyric or two stuck in their head. I’ll be happy if they leave feeling like they got their money’s worth. Our goal is to entertain. I just want people that are coming out and spending their hard-earned cash to have a great time.”

There is a cool backstory to The Blessings name, although White doesn’t necessarily think so. “I don’t know how interesting it is, but I came up with it while driving across the country from Maryland to Los Angeles. I passed through a town in Tennessee called Blessing. For some reason it stuck with me. I wrote down ‘Blessing, TN’ on the back of a brochure with the intent to use it in a song lyric. I ended up finding that brochure years later when I was searching for a band name. I just decided that’s a perfect name, The Blessings. It was really meant to be facetious or ironic. There certainly aren’t any religious connotations implied.”

The Blessings dedication to their craft is evident in how they approach new things. This is their first time performing in the area and with these amazing bands. “We are looking forward to playing the Dune Room. It looks like a killer venue and we’re thrilled to be on this bill. We love The Zeros. Javier and Baba are awesome. Their new guitarist and bassist Paul Sanchez and Jay Tea are great musicians too. I’ve been checking out Spaghetti Cumbia as well. Great band. Very entertaining. It’s gonna be a wild show! I can’t wait.”
