Bestselling author and co-screenwriter and multi-Oscar-nominated film score composer to discuss their films.
Continuing to build on the success of its recent “Pickford Presents” Live Q&A event with the star of the acclaimed Warren Betty film, “Rules Don’t Apply”, Lilly Collins, D’Place Entertainment announces the dates for two more exciting Q&A events featuring some of the most talented people involved in bringing the best films in Hollywood to the big screen. The two films selected for February are the popular new family film that theater audiences have embraced, “A Dog’s Purpose” (which already screened on Feb. 4th) and the widely-acclaimed, Oscar-nominated and award-winning film musical from writer/director, Damien Chazelle, ”La La Land”.
On Saturday, February 4th, audiences were treated to a screening of the heartwarming new box office hit, “A Dog’s Purpose”, followed by a Live Q&A with the author of the New York Times bestseller of the same name, W. Bruce Cameron, was at the theatre with his co-screenwriter for the film and wife, Cathryn Michon, to discuss the film and what motivated them to write it along with the process of adapting the book for the big screen. The Q&A was moderated by NBC’s Manny the Movie Guy.
Then on Saturday, February 18th, again at 4:05 PM, guests will have the chance to watch the film that has danced and sung its way like no other film to a record 7 Golden Globes and has tied the Academy record with 14 Oscar nominations– “La La Land”– and then speak with the composer of the film’s unforgettable score and songs, Justin Hurwitz, about the story and process of coming up with the music for the film.
Noting that Justin has won two Golden Globes already for “La La Land” and has been nominated for three Oscars for the film, Mary Pickford General Manager, Ted Hane, said: “SoCal Pianos, one of our valued community co-sponsors for this special event, will be providing a piano for Justin’s use throughout the Q&A. This will be an amazing event and opportunity for film lovers to get a first-hand look at how a composer and his music can be a major factor in how a film connects with its audience.” Moderated by popular ABC 3 news anchor, Bianca Rae, audiences will be treated to hearing Justin play the music and songs from the film live.
Patrons of the Mary Pickford who we welcome to attend our special February “Pickford Presents” Q&A event will enjoy both movie showings and Q&As while sitting and relaxing comfortably in our new state-of-the-art auditoriums featuring brand-new recliner seating and can choose from the theatre’s delicious food and drink refreshments during their visit. Tickets for the event are on sale now at the box office and online at DPlaceEntertainment.com.
