Hot Purple Energy – with a focus on the “Energy”— is partnering with other Palm Springs entities to support National Bike Month with a variety of bike specific events taking place throughout the month.
This Saturday, May 10th from 8 a.m. to Noon, is a Bike Festival at Sunrise Park. Hot Purple Energy is providing a photo booth for the event, which features a bike rodeo among other activities for youth, teens and seniors.
On Thursday, May 15th from 6 to 11 p.m. a Full Moon Bike Ride takes place, with participants meeting at the Northwest corner of Tahquitz Canyon Way and Palm Canyon. While supplies last reflectors, lights and glow in the dark items will be provided to those joining the ride.
Other events being held are Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 7th from 7 to 9 a.m., whereby Cielo Vista Elementary students meet at Demuth Park to ride to school as a group at 7 a.m. The week of May 12th to the 16th is Bike to Work Week encouraging everyone to bike to work. Friday, May 16th is also Bike to Work Day.
In addition to Hot Purple Energy, partners for these bike events are Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs, the City of Palm Springs Office of Sustainability, the Palm Springs Police Department Explorers, City of Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Department, Public Arts Commission, and Mizell Senior Center.
Hot Purple Energy is also accepting bicycles through the month of May at its headquarters at 810 Farrell Drive in Palm Springs, for the City of Palm Springs Office of Sustainability’s “Neglected Bike Program.” Donated bicycles will be given to the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs. Working and non-working bicycles of any size or condition will be accepted. Palm Springs Cyclery is supporting the program to provide tune-ups and repairs to the donated bikes.
