More than 10 million children enter hospitals across North America each year. To provide the best care for these kids, hospitals rely on donations and community support, as insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has helped fill those funding gaps $1.00 at a time.
The Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is an all-volunteer organization supported by corporate sponsors. The Torch Relay is joined together through a unified series of walks, runs and cycling events that are connected by a single torch that travels to more than 25 cities in support of children’s hospitals nationwide. 100% of the participant fundraising goes to the participant’s local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
The first Torch Relay was a continuous mile to mile relay from Miami, FL to Orlando, FL in 2002. Since that first mile, The Torch Relay has raised more than $19 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and traveled more than 100,000 miles across the US, with over 70,000 participants. Following the success of last year’s silent auction for our Children’s Miracle Network Torch Relay event, the Westin Rancho Mirage and the GPS Marriott Business Council have worked hard to gather another exciting collection of items for this year’s auction.
