The desert turned out to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with a national and local smooth jazz lineup hosted by Ruth Ruiz of RR Class Act Entertainment (who books all the artists that appeared) at Shanghai Reds. Entertainers and fans alike packed the event with happy revelers as guests danced and partied to the sounds of Slim Man and his band, Greg Vail on sax, Tateng Katindig on keys, and Craig Chestnut on drums.

This national act performs at concerts and Jazz festivals and impressed the party goers with a noticeably higher level of music. Local uber guitarist Joe Baldino added his licks to an already jamming band and 15 year old sax star Chase Huna rounded out the all-star line up. Vocalists Rose Mallet and Angie Whitney added their jazzy brand of vocals on a few numbers. It all added up to an incredible Monday night.

Shanghai Reds owner Rich Hamilton commented “this is just the kind of event we’d like to have here.” So look out folks there’s more parties coming!

Plans are in the works for monthly smooth Jazz parties featuring local and national acts to be held at local venues. Coachella Valley Weekly along with one of the top rated radio stations will be co-sponsors.
