Coachella Valley Repertory will present the World Premiere of Summer Session With The Bones Brigade by Kirby Fields December 6-17. It will be directed by CVRep Executive Artistic Director Adam Karsten.
Summer Session is set in our time, in today’s culture, and examines feelings and personal struggles that are timeless. The play tells the story of four teenage skateboarders and their two female friends. When one of the group mysteriously disappears after a memorable July 4 skate session, the gang fears the worst and directs their feelings of guilt and shame against one another. The circumstances surrounding the mystery are complicated and strain their relationships as they sort through their confusion and feelings.
As you’ll see from the attached released, CVRep has assembled a cast of extraordinarily talented young actors and actresses who can relate to the circumstances of the story, bring authenticity to their characters, and reveal the heart of Summer Session. And yes, there will be a full half-pipe on stage, along with evocative video and projections to build a sense of place and mood.
On the heels of CVRep’s recent success with the West Coast premiere of The Fantasticks: A Love Story Reimagined, this second work in the 2023-2024 Season places audiences squarely in the present, with a number of situations that can be life-changing in young lives.
