Better get your tickets while you can to this celestial celebrity event that hopes to land a knockout punch in the fight against cancer. VIP tickets for this glamorously informative affair are nearly SOLD OUT! Fortunately, the beautiful Riviera Hotel offers plenty of room for general admission. “It has been incredibly heart-warming to see the outpouring of support from this community,” shared Caroldean Ross, founder of this inaugural event and its hosting charity organization, Charity Godmother. “Literally everybody who has been asked to do something has done it and more. All the sponsorship opportunities have been filled and the donated items in the gift bags are worth more than the price of admission!”
“Fight Like a Girl” will be held on October 3, 2014 from 5:00-9:00 p.m., at the Palm Springs Riviera Resort and Spa, 1600 N. Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. The event includes a breast cancer symposium and fashion show featuring TV-favorites Dr. Andrew Ordon and Dr. Ritu Chopra of “The Doctors” syndicated television show, along with specialists Dr. Laura Lee, Dr. Frederick Eko and Dr. Deborah Rubin. The Q&A-style format will be moderated by Allison Sachs, Community Outreach Director of the Luci Curci Cancer Center at Eisenhower Medical Center. John Callahan from TV’s “All My Children” &“General Hospital” will be the Master of Ceremonies, and five-time women’s World Boxing Champion, Mia St. John, will be on hand for a “meet and greet” and photo opportunities. The desert’s own Tristan Milanovich will make her styling debut by producing the fashion show portion of the evening, and included in the celebrity model line-up will be Halstyn Houston, Gino Lamont, who will be accompanied by the biggest stars of the show, breast cancer survivors.
Other highlights of the evening include a shopping garden that features mini spa treatments, exhibitors, a gourmet dinner, fashion show, and a silent auction. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bottle of their favorite wine valued at $10 or more in exchange for two raffle tickets. Lucky winners take home a dozen bottles each! Guests will also be invited to enjoy a signature cocktail created especially for “Fight Like a Girl” entitled a “One-Two Punch”, a combination of vodka and a pink sugar free and caffeine free energy elixer, thanks to sponsors Crater Lake Vodka and Lotus Elixirs.
“It’s a combination of great things coming together into one fantastic event,” shared Ross. “This is the evolution of ‘Sleeping in for a Cure’, a project that has been building over the last 7 years. It’s no longer a sleep over; it’s a breast cancer awareness symposium.” Everything about the event will be geared to raising awareness and funds for the new local non-profit, The Charity Godmother. The theme includes honoring women and their achievements plus the color pink, as guests will be encouraged to dress accordingly. All proceeds raised at “Fight Like a Girl,” with a goal of $25,000, have been designated by Charity Godmother to directly support a team of ten women cyclists in the upcoming YSC (Young Survival Coalition supporting breast cancer survivors) “Tour de Pink” on October 17-19. This fundraising race takes place over 3 days, with a course that starts in Paso Robles and ends in Point Mugu, CA. Details on this amazing event can be found at www.ysctourdepink.org.
Charity God Mother was sprung from the depths of personal heartache when a childhood friend of Caroldean’s was diagnosed with the silent killer, Pancreatic Cancer. She raised funds for her friend’s “Bucket List” wish and Charity God Mother was born. “I’ve been touched from almost every angle by cancer. I lost my sister to it, my mother is a survivor, and I lost my brother to Leukemia.” Leave it to Caroldean Ross to once again, turn lemons into a signature cocktail.
Tickets for the evening’s event are $75 for general admission, with a limited number of VIP tickets that include premium Fashion Show seating for $100. Purchase tickets online at www.charitygodmother.org or by calling (760) 678-8394.
