PS Retros Softball Team’s Radical Race is bringing the community together in a unique way.
Palm Springs, CA, June 16, 2023— The morning of Saturday, July 24, you may catch people running around downtown Palm Springs in quite a hurry. The Retros Radical Race will be a fun time for those brave enough to flex their brains and brawn, all for a great cause.
Teams of two will race up and down Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drive, visiting local businesses, and doing challenges or tasks to gain their next clue. The goal is to connect local businesses to potential new customers while both raising money to help the team and bringing awareness to the Palm Springs Gay Softball League.
More than 28 businesses are supporting the event, from sponsoring a stop to making donations for raffle prizes including Desert Hand Car Wash, The Best Bookstore in Palm Springs, KGay 106.5, and H3K Home + Design. Racers will start off at 9am at the Margaritaville Resort.
“The Margaritaville has been amazing helping us plan the event and giving us the space to hold the start and finish of the race,” says Dennis Wodzisz, coach of the Retros. “The response from all the businesses participating has been incredible.”
Carl Borey, owner of Platinum Star Properties, is excited to participate. “Aside from providing exceptional real estate experiences, we are also passionate about being a part of the vibrant, diverse community. This race is not just about excitement and camaraderie, but also about showcasing Palm Springs.”
“The most important part of community is UNITY,” says Liz Ostoich, owner of FARM Restaurant. “We are excited to support the Retros, especially during Pride month, as they involve Palm Springs and raise money for their team. Teamwork makes the dream work!”
The race is open to anyone 21 or older and team registration fee is $100, which includes a swag bag and race T-shirt. Teams must sign up by Thursday, June 22 at www.PSRetrosSoftball.org. The finish line pool party is free to attend and runs 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Lone Palm Pool at the Margaritaville Resort.
The PS Retros Softball Team is a proud member of the Palm Springs Gay Softball League, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing a safe, positive environment for people of all skill levels.
