January 20th Dedication of the Historic Rock House in Desert Hot Springs Coincides with the 60th Anniversary of the DHS Historical Society
Riverside County Historic Commission will dedicate a historic plaque on Saturday, January 20th for the Historic Rock House in Desert Hot Springs. The 1946 Historic Rock House, the latest Riverside County Historic Landmark, will become the headquarters and museum of the Desert Hot Springs Historical Society.
To commemorate its 60th Anniversary, the Historical Society will host a public Grand Opening and Dedication event of the Historic Rock House on Saturday, January 20th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
“This is the first opportunity we have been able to make the Rock House open for visitation and we encourage the public and local media to attend this free, festive event,” stated Robert Griffith, president of the DHS Historical Society. “With the acquisition of the Historic Rock House, the Historical Society will now have a permanent headquarters for the first time in our 60-year history and we are extremely proud to call this historic gem our home,” Griffith added.
The Open House will feature live music performances, complimentary refreshments, art exhibits and historic archival photos and other artifacts, many of them never before on public view.
The event will include a dedication and an unveiling of a historic plaque by the Riverside County Historical Commission as a Historic Landmark, a proclamation by the City of Desert Hot Springs, a ribbon cutting, live music and refreshments.

The dedication program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Live music follows the dedication.
