Fashion meets philanthropy at the 11th Annual “Put Your Best Shoe Forward” Luncheon & Fashion Show, an event that promises an afternoon of fabulous fashion, inspiring stories, and community support. Hosted by Desert Best Friend’s Closet (DBFC), this annual gathering is more than just a stylish affair—it’s a powerful movement to uplift job seekers in the Coachella Valley. Taking place on Friday, April 4th, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM PDT at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage, the event features a fashion show, a pop-up boutique, specialty vendors, a silent auction, and client testimonials—all designed to support DBFC’s vital programs that empower individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency through employment.
For more than a decade, Desert Best Friend’s Closet has played a crucial role in breaking down barriers to employment by providing interview-appropriate attire, resume assistance, job application guidance, and interview skills coaching. A 2008 survey of local Human Resource professionals revealed that 85% hesitate to hire applicants who are not professionally dressed, 73% believe that sloppily dressed applicants are careless workers, 97% agree that professional attire improves a company’s public image, and 68% estimate that many job applicants lack the financial resources or knowledge to dress appropriately for interviews. Recognizing this gap, DBFC launched its Interview Attire Program, ensuring that anyone seeking employment can make a confident first impression, regardless of financial limitations.
But DBFC does more than provide clothing, it equips clients with the skills and confidence to land the job. The Bridge to Employment Program, introduced in 2013, offers practical resources such as resume writing workshops, job application support, and mock interview training. Since establishing its dedicated service site in 2010, DBFC has helped nearly 2,000 individuals take critical steps toward financial independence. Your participation in the Put Your Best Shoe Forward fundraiser directly supports these life-changing programs.
You can make a difference by attending the event for a day of fashion, fun, and inspiration, shopping at the Pop-Up Boutique where stylish pieces are just $10 each (buy 4, get the 5th free!), bidding on exclusive items in the Silent Auction and Fund-The-Need initiatives, or donating professional attire to help a job seeker dress for success. When you support DBFC, you’re not just giving clothes, you’re giving confidence, dignity, and a fresh start.
Mark your calendars for Friday April 4th, and join the celebration that turns fashion into a force for good. Secure your tickets today and help put someone’s best foot forward into a brighter future! For tickets or more information visit https://www.bfcloset.org.
