Did you know that Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is the leading cause of death and disability in children and adults from ages 1 to 44 reminds Fire Chief Sam DiGiovanna.
Brain injuries are most often caused by motor vehicle crashes, sports injuries, simple falls on the playground, at work or in the home. Fire/EMS Personnel respond to these injuries daily. Additionally, every year, approximately 52,000 deaths occur from traumatic brain injuries.
Over 150,000 and 300,000 military service members have some level of TBI. Sports related injuries cause TBI from young children to professional athletes. Make sure your child is protected from potential TBI.
March is National Traumatic Brain Injury month.
