Entravision Communications announces legendary Southern California broadcaster Fred Roggin has joined NBC Palm Springs. With over 35 Emmys and 35 Golden Mikes, Roggin will host and produce The Roggin Report weeknights at 6:30 pm beginning January 2, 2024.

Roggin is recognized as one of the top sportscasters in the country and has been inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame. On The Roggin Report he will bring his signature humor coupled with his perspective to news.

Born in Detroit, and raised in Phoenix, Roggin spent 43 years on KNBC in Los Angeles as well as serving as an NBC network Olympic host. During his career he was a frequent guest on the Tonight Show and was a play-by-play announcer for NFL football on NBC.

On launching The Roggin Report, he commented, “We are trying to create a new way to present information on a nightly basis. It’s an exciting prospect that we expect to be well embraced.”

“Fred’s extensive broadcasting experience and perspective will be immediately evident to the sophisticated audience here in the desert,” said NBC Palm Springs Senior Vice President Bob McCauley. “We are thrilled to have him join the team to bring a new format of television news to the Coachella Valley.”

The Roggin Report will engage viewers differently, and the community will play a key role in the broadcast,” said NBC Palm Springs News Director David Reese, who previously worked with Roggin for 15 years at KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. “Many cosmetic aspects of TV news have changed over the years. Now it’s time the style and content evolve as well and I believe the audience here is more than ready for it,” Reese said.

Roggin began his broadcasting career in radio and continues to host middays with Rodney Peete on LASports 570 AM in Los Angeles. He is now a resident of the Coachella Valley.

NBC Palm Springs (KMIR-TV channel 36) is the NBC affiliate for the Coachella Valley. It is owned by Entravision Communications, and is a sister station to MyNetworkTV affiliate KPSE-LD (channel 50, also licensed to Palm Springs).
