Local rock band ONE 11 are headlining the “Kick Off the Summer Party” this Saturday, May 25, from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. at the Westfield Mall Main Court in Palm Desert. The performance in their hometown will feature their newly released single entitled “Sunny Days” with photo opportunities and a “meet and greet“ for all their fans. Band members include Evan Boydstun, Michael Ramirez, Ryan Cenicola and Matt Sutton, all from the Coachella Valley.
Inspired by their new single “Sunny Days”, the first 111 fans to attend will enjoy mini Peach Perfection Smoothies provided by Jamba Juice. Other vendors at the mall will also participate in the promotion, including Bath and Body Works Gift Sets, $111 in gift cards and more!
On Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m., they will make an appearance at the “Rock for Tony“ Benefit Show being held at the Shenandoah Springs Club, 32-610 Desert Moon Drive in Thousand Palms. (760) 343-3669.
The band started a while back when they were in middle and high school. With support from all of their parents, who were basically their managers, roadies and drivers, when they started out, this local band is realizing their dream and gaining attention from major labels.
Thanks to multi-platinum producer and recording artist, Ronnie King, this group has a very bright future. King happened to see the group on CBS-2 Eye on the Desert, and sent an e-mail to Raul Ramirez, who in turn contacted King. They soon went to King’s recording studio located in his ranch in Thermal.
“We discussed the sound that the boys wanted to get across,” said King. “They wanted it to be as close to their live performance as possible. I offered to add sounds to the tracks to create a bigger production, but they wanted to be true to their sound.” For being so young, they had a clear picture on how they wanted to present themselves. “We are not a manufactured group,” said Cenicola. “We want to be judged on our ability to play as real musicians.”
ONE 11 has performed in over 200 Southern California shows; won the “Next Big Thing Tour” in Hollywood; voted “Best Rock Band in Orange County; two-time McCallum Theatre Open Call Finalists; voted “Best Band in the Valley” by Desert Magazine; were selected as the “Rising Stars of the Desert” by Marker Broadcasting; perform at Downtown Disney’s House of Blues; the Key Club in Hollywood; the Coach House and Chain Reaction in Orange County and will make this appearance after performing a great show at the San Diego House of Blues this past Sunday.
That is impressive for anyone at any age and these young men are aiming for the stars. “We would like to have everyone come to the mall to check us out,” said Boydstun. “We will perform a little something for everyone, young and old, crossing genre’s from rock to ska, reggae, to pop, punk, classic rock along with songs from our new album, entitled “It’s About Time.”
