The highly anticipated and coveted Modernism Week will be having their fall kick-off October 10th through the 13th. The four day teaser will showcase what’s to come for their week long main event in February that runs from the 12th through the 22nd.

Modernism Week started back in 2006 with a talented group of designers and architects focused on highlighting all of the fantastic mid-century modern architecture and style that Palm Springs encompasses. Modernism Week is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.

The event has grown to mass proportions and has revealed itself to be one of the Coachella Valley’s most popular annual events.

Modernism Week works closely with The Palm Springs Historical Society which conducts the events walking tours. The fall kick-off will have a wide selection of activities which will include the best of Modernism Week.

The activities include, Frank Sinatra’s Neighborhood-The Movie Colony Historical Walking Tour which takes participants through the glamorous neighborhood where Hollywood icons such as Tony Curtis, Cary Grant and Gloria Swanson resided among many other bright stars.

The Golden Era Hollywood Homes- Old Las Palmas Historical Walking Tour guides guests through the area that was established in the 1920’s and was home to Hollywood greats such as Kirk Douglas and Elizabeth Taylor. The area still shines with current celebs including heart throb Leonardo DiCaprio.

Heart of the City Waking Tour gives a glimpse of old Palm Springs with a tour of the Village Green where two of the oldest standing homes in Palm Springs are anchored (Cornelia White House and the McCallum Adobe). The tour meanders through Palm Canyon and to La Plaza, one of the first shopping and entertainment centers of its kind in Southern California.

The Tennis Club Neighborhood Walking Tour provides visitors with a look at the designs of Herbert Burns and his Obit Hotel and Chase Hotel. The tours finale curves into the historic Tennis Club, a hot spot destination for old school Hollywood elite.

The Modernism Week Fall teaser will also feature a tour of the splendid Albert Frey House and Double Decker bus tours. There are other tours that will be available as well during the weekend that are sure to enthrall mid-century modern enthusiasts.

The tours range in price from $35 to $50 per person depending on the tour. There are also packages offered.
