The Desert Rose Playhouse, the Valley’s LGBT stage company, will present David Dillon’s smash hit Off-Broadway Comedy, PARTY, opening Friday, June 24, 2016 for a six-week run.  Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2 PM, through July 31, 2016.

The wildly popular comedy depicts a group of gay men getting together for their regular evening of drinks and games.  Tonite, the game is a gay version of “Truth or Dare” called “Fact, Fiction or Fantasy”.  True life stories are shared, fictional encounters related and fantasies often require the player to remove his clothing.  By the end of the evening, everyone is nude and laughing together in a great show of brotherhood.  Playwright Dillon says, “PARTY is not about flesh, but celebrates the fact that, as a group, we are positive and honest about our sexuality and free from a lot of the inhibitions and hang ups that exist in other groups.”

The play opened for a five-week run in Chicago that turned into a two-year engagement, followed by a hugely successful Off-Broadway production in New York and subsequent productions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans, London, Ft. Lauderdale, etc. This production is the Coachella Valley debut of PARTY.  As a member of the original cast stated, “They come for the nudity, but come again because it is such a funny, positive and affirming event.  We’ve had gay men, straight couples, bachelorette parties, and all sorts of people in the audience and everyone has a great time!”

DRP Artistic Director Jim Strait is thrilled with the ensemble of actors gathered for the production.  He says, “Our cast includes some of our favorite actors at the Desert Rose Playhouse along with some striking new talent making their debut on our stage in the production.”

Desert Rose Playhouse company members Jason Hull, Allan Jensen, Kam Sisco and Robbie Wayne are joined by talented performers John Fryer, Miguel Arballo, and young Los Angeles-based actor Jacob Betts as the naïve gay newcomer  “Andy”.  Jim Strait designs and directs the production with award-winning Phil Murphy designing the lighting.

This production is recommended for mature audiences due to nudity and sexual situations.

The Desert Rose Playhouse is a project of Desert Rose Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation.   PARTY continues Desert Rose Productions’ mission to produce and present literate, relevant and entertaining plays and musicals to LGBT and Gay-Friendly theatregoers in the Coachella Valley.

Tickets are $33 for evening performances; $30 for matinees. To order go online at www.desertroseplayhouse.org or call 760-202-3000.
