Colin James returns to the Big Rock Pub, Saturday March 16th. Back in the ‘80s, the Saskatchewan native, along with Robert Cray and Stevie Ray Vaughan were a trio of young guitar-slingers that effectively reintroduced the Blues to a young audience, weened on Album-Oriented Rock (AOR).

Colin’s debut arrived in 1988 and over the years he has shared stages and recording sessions with superstars like Keith Richards, Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt and Lenny Kravitz. Always slightly ahead of the curve, he formed his Little Big Band in the early ‘90s. Beating Neo-Swing practitioners like Brian Setzer as well as various Cherry-Poppin’ Voodoo Daddy Zoot Cats to the punch.

He’s also taken deep dives into Delta Blues, Gypsy Jazz and acoustic music. 35 years after his debut, Colin has consistently topped the charts in Canada and cultivated a loyal following throughout the lower 48.

The indefatigable Blues Rocker has recorded 16 studio albums, a Christmas collection, a live set and a couple of hits compilations. Nominated for 17 Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy), he has won eight, most recently for his 2022 album, Open Road. He is currently recording a new effort which will include special guests like Reese Wynans, former keyboardist for Stevie Ray Vaughan, who currently plays with Joe Bonamassa.
