The Pride Celebration, scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 3, includes block parties, same-sex weddings at the “Forever Marilyn” statue, golf tournament, a two-day festival with parade, wrapped up by the Pride Honors Awards. This theme for 2013 is appropriately named, “It’s Time.”

The 27th annual Greater Palm Springs Pride Weekend can be considered the “Coachella” for the GLBT community in the Desert. This year, television personality, funny man and best-selling author, Ross Mathews will be the Celebrity Grand Marshal for Pride Parade. Look for the colorful parade floating down Palm Canyon Dr. Sunday Nov. 3 at 10 am.

A team of gay-friendly wedding officiants assembled by Reverend Richard Cadieux will be performing FREE wedding ceremonies for gay couples who want to tie the knot. The same-sex wedding ceremonies will take place near the “Forever Marilyn” statue on the corner of Tahquitz Canyon Way and Palm Canyon Dr. between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on Saturday Nov. 2.

“Couples are being married approximately every 20 minutes in a gayly-decorated wedding canopy,” Cadieux stated. After the nuptials, couples are invited to attend a giant “I DO” celebration at the same location at 4:30 p.m. where comedienne Shan Carr is scheduled to MC.

The ceremonies and post “I DO’ celebration was made possible through many generous donations from local wedding vendors. As an official event of Greater Palm Springs Pride, Cadieux volunteered to spearhead the effort and recruit appropriate sponsors including PS Flowermart, Kool Party Rentals, Ice Magic Ice Sculptures, Le Vallauris Restaurant, Perfect Touch, Avra Photography, Christian Chalifour, Musical Affair Entertainment, DJ Dave Fields, Joyful Weddings & Marriages, and Rainbow Cupcakes.

Registration information is available online at: Couples may check ceremony time availability by calling 760-320-8141. A $50 fee is being charged to cover the costs of processing the legal paperwork.
