An afternoon filled with culture, art, and community

 Green Room Theatre Company Coachella Valley will be celebrating its 15th successful season by throwing a special Quinceañera celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024. They are a traveling troupe bringing theatre to underserved neighborhoods. This event is open to the public.

Karen Lin is the director of the ballet folklorico program for youth in Thermal and surrounding areas. This is a joint partnership with Desert Recreation and RAP Foundation. The event will feature colorful ballet folklorico performances with youth and instructor Marisol Reyes.

There will also be monologues, musical numbers, and dance performances from Julian Perez, Heaven Rodriguez, Mike Braswell, Dawnielle Smith, Christopher Manes, Judalon Manes, and Zelaya Sanchez. In addition, Broadway actress Haley Izurieta will be performing.

Tickets are only $20 per ticket, which also includes food, live music, a silent auction, and several raffle prizes donated by local businesses.

Sponsors of the Quinceañera are Barker Foundation, Costco, Mechanics Bank, East Coachella Valley Rotary Club, Alberto’s Zapateria, T. Baker, Starbucks, Altura Bank, and L. Santiago.

The next GRTCCV play, Black Butterfly, will debut in the spring of 2025 under the direction of Artistic Director David Catanzarite. The production tells the story of five girls going through adolescence and growing up in the Los Angeles barrio.
