The Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) unveiled its 2024 poster ahead of the upcoming event taking place January 4-15, 2024. Collaborating with renowned American artist and Palm Springs resident, Shag, this year’s bold and colorful design is inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics, celebrating the Festival’s 35th-anniversary and beautiful desert location. Festival passes for the 2024 event are currently available and on sale at www.psfilmfest.org.

Shag, known for his distinctive and vibrant retro-style artwork, brings a unique and wholly original vision to this year’s Festival poster. His distinctive artistic style draws from commercial illustration from the past five decades, imbued with an attitude and sly sense of humor that is unmistakably of our time. Solo exhibitions of Shag’s work have been held in the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and South America. He currently resides in Palm Springs, with the Shag Store located on Palm Canyon Drive. As a limited-edition collectible – and a must-have for cinema enthusiasts, art collectors and fans of Shag’s work – the 2024 poster will be available on the Festival website, the Shag Store and Destination PSP.

Commenting about the inspiration behind the poster, Shag said, “I was inspired by Palm Springs’ history as a sunny winter getaway for the Hollywood film industry and wanted to represent that with the colorful umbrellas that are ubiquitous to outdoor living in the city. Under those umbrellas I depicted the sort of glamorous and talented people that are attracted to the Palm Springs International Film Festival.”

“For our 35th-anniversary, we wanted to capture the perfect blend of Palm Springs charm and film culture,” said Lili Rodriguez, Artistic Director of the Palm Springs International Film Society. “We think Shag’s distinctive, fun style is a natural choice to bring these ideas together. His vision resonates with our Festival’s celebration of storytelling, and we’re thrilled to partner with him!”
