For centuries, the Coachella Valley, much like the subject of our story, was buried beneath the sands of the valley’s desert dunes. However, over the last hundred years, centuries of history has been swept away, which now reveals a bustling series of communities that today play host to some of the most sought-after pop-culture events from across the world. Festivals, such as Coachella Fest. The Palm Springs Film Festival (a precursor to the Academy Awards). PGA West golf tournaments, world-class tennis matches at the La Quinta Tennis Gardens, and this year, WWE’SThe Road to WrestleMania” at Acrisure Arena – to name of few of the extraordinary entertaining events.

The clearing of centuries-worth desert sands didn’t merely reveal the aforementioned. Nestled away on the quieter [and some would argue] more desirable and sought-after side of town lies the private community of Talavera. For the past fourteen years, a legend has been in the making. Today, much like those desert sands that were swept away to reveal bustling communities and world-class events, this local legend is poised, and finally taking center stage.

Francisco “Cisco” Luna, has been trail-blazing across the lands of the former Old West turned Talavera community for over a decade, and has spent most of his life in the Coachella Valley. Cisco states that he enjoys the southern Californian desert lifestyle, as he cheerfully expresses, “It is beautiful out here”.

Since beginning his career, Cisco has worked long hours, and has always driven the extra-mile – Not for reward, not for kudos, but for the community, and for those he serves.

In the early 2000’s, Cisco began a career in security, which led to his introduction into the world of gate guards serving local gated communities. Since that time, Cisco has thrived, and not simply for performing the duties required of him, but for his desire to learn, appreciate those around him, and by striving to be his best day-in and day-out (even on observed holidays like Christmas Day and New Year Day’s) while others around him might not be doing likewise.

For over ten years, Cisco has faithfully dedicated a sizeable portion of his life to serving the Association Members of the Talavera community in Indio. His efforts have made the lives of Talavera residents peaceful, entertaining, and inspiring. He is a considerable reason why the community has thrived the way it has. One local resident in Talavera told us, “Cisco is the best. Anytime we have any type of an issue, Cisco always figures it out. My family and I love the guy”.

When we first met Cisco, we were amazed by his willingness to be of loyal service, and his knowledge of how a Home Owner’s Association is operated, and what it takes to make it a success. “You must generally like people and treat them the way that you would treat your best friend or spouse …[ If you treat them well that is]. You must know how an HOA operates, even if it’s not in your job description. How vendors get hired, the process, etc. How a board operates and votes. CC&R’s, board meetings, security protocols, annual budgets, staff scheduling, organizing events, customer service, maintenance, general upkeep, patrolling, etc.”, he tells us.

Now hedging closer to his second decade in the business, there are murmurings – perhaps a gentle rumble beneath the surface of the earth, that there is something else Cisco might do within his field.

If you consider for a moment that Cisco has worked within HOA’S for over fifteen years, exclusively within one HOA for fourteen of those years, grew with the community as it grew, at least we would be remiss to believe – Cisco could be a highly successful HOA manager. And, any HOA management company or HOA community within the Coachella Valley would be very fortunate to have him.

Outside his passion for HOA’S, Cisco is a devout husband and father. We’ve met his family, and have been inspired to meet his well-behaved children, and a loving supportive wife of over twenty years.

From all of us at CV WEEKLY, and TIAR’A LITERARY & ILLUSTRATION, Happy New Year Cisco, and family. We pray that 2024 brings you great joy, and that your talents will now shine brightly for more to see, than just those you have served so loyally for so many years.
